JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a reliable Shopify Store Builder / Technical E-commerce Assistant who can build, configure, customize, and maintain complete Shopify stores from start to finish.

The goal is to launch and test new stores quickly without sacrificing quality. You will handle the technical implementation while I focus on product selection, offers, creative direction, advertising, and overall business strategy.

This is not a basic data-entry VA role. You should already understand Shopify, know where different settings are located, and be comfortable solving technical problems independently.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Setting up complete Shopify stores from an existing theme
- Configuring products, collections, navigation, pages, policies, markets, shipping, taxes, and other store settings
- Building and improving homepages, product pages, collection pages, and landing pages
- Customizing Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Using AI coding tools such as OpenAI Codex and Claude Code to implement theme changes faster
- Installing and configuring Shopify apps
- Making sure the store works properly on desktop and mobile
- Improving page layout, usability, loading speed, and conversion-focused elements
- Troubleshooting theme, app, and layout issues
- Testing the complete customer journey before launch
- Following checklists and documenting completed work
- Repeating the process efficiently for future stores

You should have:

- Strong general knowledge of Shopify and the Shopify admin
- Experience building complete Shopify stores
- Experience editing Shopify themes and theme code
- Working knowledge of Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience using Git or another safe version-control workflow
- Experience using AI coding assistants such as Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar tools
- The ability to review, test, and debug AI-generated code instead of copying it blindly
- Good visual judgment and attention to detail
- Good written English
- The ability to work independently and communicate clearly
- A reliable internet connection

Important:

You will receive your own Shopify staff or collaborator access. You will never receive the store owner password. Sensitive payment, billing, banking, and identity-verification tasks will remain with the owner.

When making theme changes, you must work safely by duplicating the live theme, keeping backups, testing changes before publishing, and avoiding unnecessary modifications to production code.

To apply, please include:

1. A short introduction about your Shopify experience
2. Links to three live Shopify stores you personally worked on
3. A clear explanation of exactly what you completed on each store
4. Your experience with Shopify Liquid, CSS, JavaScript, and theme customization
5. Which AI coding tools you currently use and how you use them
6. An example of a Shopify problem you solved independently
7. Your preferred hourly or monthly rate
8. Your availability and desired number of hours per week
9. The words “Shopify Operator” at the beginning of your application so I know you read the full description

There may be an initial paid trial project. The trial will involve completing a small Shopify setup or theme-customization task while following clear instructions and documenting your work.

We are looking for someone interested in a long-term working relationship who can eventually take ownership of the technical store-building process and help us launch new Shopify stores faster.
