We are a fast-growing digital company specializing in e-commerce with a focus on WooCommerce. Our platform currently manages over 20,000 products, and we’re scaling fast — with plans to onboard 5,000+ new products monthly. As a lean, agile team driven by performance and innovation, we're looking for a Senior WordPress Developer who is equal parts developer, strategist, and systems thinker to lead our web development efforts and scale alongside us.
Position Summary
This is a senior-level, full-time role for a versatile WordPress Developer with strong front-end and back-end experience, a deep understanding of WooCommerce infrastructure, and advanced technical and semantic SEO knowledge. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who can manage large product databases, optimize site architecture for search performance, and help design scalable content pipelines. You will own the development roadmap and be empowered to improve systems, implement new tools, and hire additional developers as we grow.
Key Responsibilities
Development & Site Management
Lead full-stack development and optimization of our WordPress WooCommerce site.
Maintain site performance, speed, and security.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to plugins, PHP errors, and database performance.
Configure and optimize Cloudways hosting, ensuring that all necessary bots (e.g., Googlebot, Bingbot) can crawl the site without being blocked or restricted.
WooCommerce Product Operations
Manage the full product pipeline, handling 5,000+ product additions monthly.
Utilize tools like Google Sheets, WP All Import, and APIs to structure and automate processes.
Maintain clean product taxonomies, attributes, and variable structures.
Semantic SEO & Technical SEO
Implement semantic SEO coding best practices including anchor text, heading structure, schema markup, and accessibility tags.
Collaborate with the SEO team to clean up 404s, redirects, canonical issues, and XML sitemap errors using Ahrefs, Google Search Console, and Screaming Frog.
Ensure robots.txt and server configurations support healthy site indexation.
Website Redesign & UI Implementation
Work with our graphic designer to implement a full site redesign from provided Figma files.
Translate UI designs into responsive, SEO-friendly WordPress templates.
Collaborate on performance testing and design validation.
Content Pipeline Engineering
Help migrate content workflows to a robust platform (e.g., Airtable to WordPress pipeline).
Use automation tools (Zapier, Make, WPGraphQL) to streamline publishing and sync content with metadata and taxonomies.
Documentation & Collaboration
Document technical decisions and SOPs clearly in ClickUp.
Work with:
A Technical SEO Expert for in-depth audits and implementation.
An Operations Manager who manages business operations end-to-end.
Participate in planning and eventually scale the development team under your leadership.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Proficiency
5+ years of full-stack WordPress and WooCommerce development experience.
Strong in PHP, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, MySQL.
Deep understanding of WooCommerce product architecture, hooks, filters, and theme development.
Experience managing high-SKU sites and complex import workflows.
Hosting & Infrastructure
Hands-on experience with Cloudways: able to configure server rules, bot permissions, performance settings, and caching systems.
Understands bot access settings to prevent SEO crawler blocks, including user-agent rules and firewall adjustments.
SEO Expertise
Advanced knowledge of semantic SEO and how it ties into HTML structure, anchor tags, internal linking, and content indexing.
Skilled with Ahrefs, Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, and tools like RankMath or Yoast.
Can manage site cleanup efforts (redirect chains, sitemap maintenance, crawl optimization).
Systems & Tools
Familiarity with ClickUp, Google Sheets, Airtable, and automation via Zapier, Make, or similar.
Experience with Git version control and staging workflow deployment.
