About the Client
You'll be joining a Canadian technology startup building an AI-powered enterprise platform in a regulated, document-heavy industry — the kind of problem where getting the engineering right actually matters commercially. The founding team has the domain expertise and the customers; what they need is the engineer who can build the product.
This is a small, senior, low-bureaucracy environment. No layers of approval, no committee-designed architecture, no sprint theatre. You'll work directly with the founder, decisions get made in conversations rather than steering meetings, and the platform you build is the company's core asset — not a side project or an internal tool nobody looks at.

Job Overview
We're looking for a founding-level full-stack engineer to be the sole architect and builder of a secure, production-grade AI platform — from empty repository to enterprise customers in production.
You will own the entire stack: architecture, backend, frontend, database design, AI pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and deployment. Not "own" in the sense of coordinating specialists — own in the sense that you are the one writing it. You'll take a high-level product vision, fill in the gaps with your own product judgment, and turn it into something that works, ships, and holds up under enterprise security scrutiny.
This role is deliberately narrow in who it fits. It's built for a veteran builder who has done this before: someone who has been a founding engineer, technical co-founder, or solo technical lead, who is comfortable with high ambiguity, and who would rather make a decisive architectural call and move than wait for consensus. If you've shipped a real product alone and enjoyed it, this will feel like the role you've been waiting for. If you've always had a frontend team, a DevOps team, and a PM writing your tickets, this one will be a difficult transition.
As the platform matures and the engineering team grows around it, this role is positioned to grow into technical leadership over that team.

Work Schedule
• Monday to Friday
• Aligned to Canadian business hours, with meaningful flexibility — this is an output-measured role, not a keystroke-monitored one
• Core overlap required with the founder for daily collaboration and fast decision-making

Salary & Incentives
Base Salary: PHP 150,000 – 200,000 per month
Quarterly Performance-based bonuses
This range reflects the seniority and scope of the role. We are hiring one engineer to do what many companies staff with a team, and the compensation is set accordingly.

Key Responsibilities
System Architecture & Design
• Own the blueprint — Design and implement a scalable, highly secure platform architecture capable of handling multi-tenant enterprise data and complex automated workflows.
• D ---------- the stack — Make the definitive calls on frameworks, language stacks, and database topology — optimised for performance, maintainability, and the speed of a single builder.
• Security from day one — Bake encryption in transit and at rest, robust access controls, and comprehensive audit logging into the core of the application rather than bolting them on later.

Applied AI & Intelligent Pipelines
• Document intelligence — Architect parsing, processing, and extraction pipelines that turn messy, multi-format business inputs into clean structured data.
• RAG & agent workflows — Build advanced retrieval-augmented generation architectures and multi-agent workflows that audit draft submissions against dense, evolving external rulesets.
• Make AI reliable — Implement deterministic validation layers so probabilistic features behave predictably in production — no hallucinated output reaching a customer.
• Cost & latency — Tune token usage, context windows, and model latency so AI features stay fast and cost-effective at scale.
Full-Stack Product Engineering
• Backend — Write clean, tested backend services for core business logic, API gateways, and third-party integrations.
• Frontend — Build intuitive, high-performance interfaces that make complex multi-stage data entry and structural visualisation feel simple.
• Ship continuously — Maintain a continuous deployment cycle — ship user-facing functionality consistently while keeping technical debt honest.
Infrastructure, DevOps & Resilience
• Cloud infrastructure — Provision, manage, and scale secure cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code principles.
• Automation & monitoring — Build automated CI/CD pipelines, containerisation strategies, and monitoring that delivers high availability and fast recovery.
• Data protection — Implement strict data isolation, privacy protocols, and retention policies for highly sensitive corporate information.

Qualifications
Required
• Proven track record as a founding engineer, technical co-founder, or solo technical lead who built and scaled an enterprise-grade software product from ideation to commercial launch
• Demonstrated ability to operate with minimal oversight — turning abstract product requirements into functional, production-ready code without a spec handed to you
• Production-level experience implementing LLM application orchestration, whether through frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex or direct native API implementations
• Deep working knowledge of vector database engineering, indexing strategies, embedding models, and tuning semantic search retrieval performance
• Practical mastery of deterministic validation layers that mitigate AI hallucinations and guarantee structured output accuracy
• Advanced backend capability in a modern ecosystem such as Python, Go, or Node.js, paired with expert frontend proficiency in React, Next.js, or Vue
• Expertise in database design — advanced relational modelling alongside vector stores, graph databases, or key-value caches for highly connected data
• Strong proficiency with modern cloud environments, automated deployment frameworks, and containerised orchestration
• Solid grounding in core networking, secure API gateway management, reverse proxies, and web application firewalls
• Strong written and verbal English — you will communicate directly with the founder and, at times, with enterprise customers
• Reliable internet connection and a dedicated, quiet workspace

Nice to Have
• Experience building for regulated or compliance-heavy industries where audit trails and data handling are scrutinised
• Background in multi-tenant SaaS architecture and enterprise security reviews (SOC 2, penetration testing, vendor security questionnaires)
• Experience with document parsing at scale — OCR, layout-aware extraction, or structured output from unstructured PDFs
• Prior work on agentic systems, evaluation harnesses, or LLM observability tooling
• Experience hiring or mentoring engineers, or acting as first technical hire ahead of a growing team
• Startup or early-stage product experience, particularly pre-product-market-fit
