We're looking for a reliable caption proofreader to clean up auto-generated captions for our true crime videos.
This is NOT transcription from scratch. Audio is pre-transcribed by a captioning app. Your job is to refine that output directly inside the editing app to ensure 100% accuracy.
What you'll do:
- Open the auto-generated transcript in our editing app
- Listen along and fix misstranscribed words
You must be able to handle:
- American police bodycam and interrogation room audio
- Heavy southern, Texan, and other regional US accents
- Mumbling, shouting, crying, intoxicated speakers
- Crosstalk and radio static
- Profanity, violence, and disturbing content (this is real true crime footage, if you're not comfortable, do not apply)
- Police codes, jargon, and slang
Required:
- Fluent English
- Strong comprehension of American accents, this is the #1 skill
- Detail-obsessed. One wrong caption = big problem
- Reliable daily availability.
- 100% accuracy, we don't accept any errors
Payment: $5-6/h
Starting with ~3 videos/week. Expect 10–15 hrs/week to start. This will evolve into a full-time role over time.
To apply:
-Your English level 0-10
-Your PC RAM
-Tell me in 3-4 sentences why you're great with American accents and rough audio (mumbling, crosstalk, muffled speech). What's your actual background, US client work, transcription jobs, time spent in the US, heavy US media exposure? Be specific. "I watch movies" is not an answer.
-How many hours per week you’re available
