Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and degree-qualified Bookkeeper with strong e-commerce accounting experience to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing consistent payroll processing, BAS preparation and lodgement support, and maintaining accurate financial records in compliance with Australian accounting standards and requirements.
This role requires a professional with proven local Australian experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage bookkeeping functions across a fast-paced e-commerce environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end bookkeeping functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
Process and reconcile e-commerce transactions across platforms such as Shopify, Amazon, eBay, marketplaces, payment gateways, and related systems.
Perform daily reconciliation of sales, fees, refunds, payment processors, and inventory-related transactions.
Prepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and management reports.
Process payroll accurately and on time, including:
PAYG withholding
Superannuation payments
Payroll reconciliations
Leave calculations
Single Touch Payroll (STP) compliance
Prepare and assist with Business Activity Statement (BAS) submissions, including GST reconciliations and supporting documentation.
Maintain accurate records in accordance with Australian taxation and accounting requirements.
Liaise with accountants, auditors, and external advisors as required.
Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes.
Identify opportunities to improve bookkeeping processes, reporting accuracy, and financial controls.
Skills & Experience Required
Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated Australian bookkeeping experience with knowledge of local accounting practices and compliance requirements.
Proven experience supporting BAS preparation and lodgement processes.
Strong payroll experience, including Australian payroll legislation, PAYG, superannuation, and STP requirements.
Previous experience working with e-commerce businesses and high-volume online transactions.
Experience with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or similar platforms.
Experience integrating accounting systems with e-commerce platforms and payment providers is highly desirable.
Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
Excellent organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Previous experience in a retail, e-commerce, or online business environment.
Xero certification or similar accounting software certification.
Experience working with inventory accounting and multi-channel sales environments.
Exposure to Australian tax compliance and reporting requirements.
