AI Engineer - Claude / MCP / Python (Full-Time)

We're building something most businesses haven't even realised is possible.

Pet Let is an Australian holiday rental company that's been operating since 2009. We have a large property portfolio, a team across two countries, and a database of more than 13,000 guests.
And we're in the middle of building a fully AI-powered operation.
Not chatbots. Not auto-replies. A genuine network of AI agents that can run core business functions — guest communications, operations coordination, financial processing, reporting, and marketing — with a lean human team providing oversight and handling what genuinely needs human judgment.
We have a diverse tech stack including a property management system, a property operations and task management platform, trust accounting software, and Google Workspace as our communications and data backbone. Your job is to connect all of it to Claude, and build agents and dashboards on top of those connections that make the whole business smarter and faster.
We know where we're going. We need someone to help us get there.

What the role looks like:
You'll work directly with our CEO and Operations Manager. You'll design, build, and deploy — hands on, every day. You ask questions, dig deep, can understand business processes. You think and understand fast.

The work has two major pillars:
AI agents — using MCP servers to connect Claude directly to our business systems, then building agents that can act autonomously across those systems: receiving inputs, making decisions, triggering actions, and closing the loop without a human in the middle.

Live dashboards — building real-time operational and business dashboards that give leadership and each team a clear view of what's happening and what needs attention. You choose the right tool for the job.

Beyond that, the roadmap is broad and the problems are real. You'll have genuine ownership of meaningful work from day one.

Who we're looking for
You live in Claude. You've shipped Claude Artifacts. You use Claude Cowork and Code daily and you love letting it do the heavy lifting while you direct the outcome. Clawdbot/Moltbot/OpenClaw blew your mind. And now the hype is over, you get what the future looks like and you want to ride that wave.

You understand MCP — ideally you've built MCP servers and you get why they're the key to turning Claude from an assistant into an agent that can actually act in real systems.
You know Python. You can read an API and build a connection. You've built dashboards that pull live data and help people make decisions.
You don't need to be managed. You need a clear problem and the trust to solve it.
Honestly? We're looking for someone who gets so excited about this stuff that the idea of locking yourself away with your favourite drink, your favourite snacks, and a massive problem to solve sounds less like work and more like the best possible way to spend a day. Our CEO is currently losing sleep because she's so energised by what's possible. We want someone who gets that feeling.

Non-negotiable:

Fluent in Python
Deep, daily Claude user — Artifacts, Claude Code, the works
Understands and has worked with MCP
Has built things with the Claude or OpenAI API and can show us
Can build interactive dashboards connected to live data
Strong written English
Self-directed and genuinely motivated by this technology

Strong advantage:

Google Workspace API experience
Workflow automation (n8n, Make, Zapier)
Experience with agentic frameworks
Any background in hospitality, property management, or operational businesses


About the salary — let's be straight with you
We're starting at $800–$1,200 USD/month. We'll be honest about why: we've been burnt before by people who interview well but can't execute. So we start cautious.
But here's the flip side. If you can do what this ad describes — if you can take our vision and actually ship it, fast — your value to us goes up dramatically and your rate will reflect that. We'll review your compensation as soon as the first element of the vision is live and working, which could be within the first two weeks. After that, regular reviews tied directly to progress.
We're not looking for someone to pay minimally and keep there. We're looking for someone who proves they're exceptional and then gets rewarded for it. If that's you, this is a very good opportunity.
