AI-Enabled WordPress Solutions Engineer

What You’ll Be Working On

* Designing and improving enterprise WordPress platforms across multiple portfolio companies.
* Building custom plugins, integrations, and AI-assisted business workflows.
* Solving small bugs, Optimising website performance, security, scalability, and user experience.
* Researching and implementing emerging AI tools and automation technologies.
* Developing technical documentation and reusable engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

AI-Assisted Development

* Use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate coding, debugging, documentation, and solution design.
* Evaluate new AI technologies and improve engineering workflows.
* Apply prompt engineering to increase development productivity.

WordPress Development

* Develop and customise WordPress themes, plugins, and multisite environments.
* Troubleshoot complex plugin conflicts and platform issues.
* Support WooCommerce and other enterprise WordPress solutions.

Technical Problem Solving

* Diagnose production issues across PHP, JavaScript, databases, and infrastructure.
* Solve small bugs, Improve website performance, reliability, and maintainability.
* Recommend scalable technical improvements.

API & Integrations

* Develop and maintain REST API and third-party integrations.
* Connect AI services, payment gateways, CRM systems, and automation platforms.
* Assist with cloud-based workflows and enterprise applications.

SEO & Performance

* Implement technical SEO, metadata, schema, and Core Web Vitals improvements.
* Optimise mobile responsiveness, accessibility, caching, and site speed.
* Measure outcomes and recommend continuous improvements.

Documentation & Collaboration

* Produce technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles.
* Collaborate daily with developers, testers, designers, and product teams through remote screen-sharing sessions.
* Participate in architecture reviews and technical planning discussions.

Typical Day

* Review development tasks and priorities in ClickUp.
* Build or debug WordPress features using AI-assisted workflows.
* Collaborate with teammates through Zoom screen-sharing sessions.
* Test, document, and deploy improvements.
* Research new technologies and participate in technical discussions.

Required Skills

WordPress

* Strong WordPress development experience (themes, plugins, WooCommerce).
* PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
* Familiarity with Elementor or Gutenberg.

AI & Development Tools

* Experience using Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar AI tools.
* Understanding of AI-assisted software development workflows.

Programming & Integrations

* REST APIs, JSON, AJAX, and third-party integrations.
* Bonus: Python or Node.js experience.

SEO & Infrastructure

* Technical SEO and performance optimisation.
* Exposure to Linux, cloud hosting, DNS, SSL, and backups is advantageous.
