Job Opening: WordPress Front-End Developer (Full Stack Preferred)

Project Scope:
We’re launching Version 2 of our content platform and need an experienced WordPress developer to lead the redesign, performance optimization, and infrastructure setup. The ideal candidate has strong front-end skills and can contribute to backend setup and deployment, especially around performance, security, and scalability.
Responsibilities:
Front-End:
- Redesign and implement the front end using custom or premium WordPress themes
- Build and deploy custom widgets and dynamic components
- Ensure responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility
- Implement design assets and interactions from Figma mockups
Back-End / DevOps:
- Set up staging and production environments on Heroku (or similar cloud platform)
- Configure WordPress caching layers (e.g. WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache, Redis)
- Integrate and manage CDN (Cloudflare or AWS CloudFront) for global asset delivery
- Optimize database performance and implement regular backup routines
- Improve server response times and time-to-first-byte (TTFB)
- Configure HTTPS/SSL, security headers, and basic hardening practices
- Set up error logging, uptime monitoring, and performance alerts
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience with WordPress theme development and integration
- Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
- Experience setting up and managing WordPress on Heroku, DigitalOcean, or similar
- Knowledge of caching strategies (object, page, browser caching)
- Familiarity with CDN services and asset minification
- Comfortable with REST API integration and backend customization
- Familiar with CLI tools (e.g., WP-CLI) and Git-based deployment workflows
- Understanding of MySQL performance tuning and cron job scheduling
Bonus Points:
- Experience with headless WordPress or decoupled architecture
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines for WordPress deployments
- Understanding of SEO best practices, schema markup, and structured data
- Experience with performance monitoring tools like New Relic, Datadog, or Cloudflare Insights
