Weekend English & Essay Writing Tutor

Hi Dear,

We are looking for a patient, consistent, and fluent English tutor to support a 12, 14-year-old boy entering high school in the United States. English is his second language, and he needs extra help to improve in reading comprehension, grammar, and academic writing — especially essay structure and expression.
This is a long-term tutoring role, starting with weekend sessions and potentially expanding to weekday afternoons as needed and as the tutor's availability allows.

Responsibilities:
Teach 1-on-1 via Zoom or Google Meet (camera and screen sharing required)


Focus areas:


Reading comprehension and vocabulary
Grammar, sentence structure, and clarity
Paragraph development and essay writing coaching
Feedback, editing, and revision guidance
Use Google Docs for live writing and feedback

Requirements:

Fluent in English with clear speaking voice and neutral accent
Experience teaching ESL/ELL middle school or high school students
Skilled in teaching academic writing and essay structure
Friendly, encouraging, and patient with slower learners
Comfortable with Zoom, screen sharing, and Google Docs

Schedule:

Start with 2-4 sessions per week:
Saturday & Sunday at 8:30 AM-11am Pacific Time (California)
Each session: 1.5 hours
If the tutor has more availability, we will consider adding weekday sessions around 5 PM Pacific Time
5-10 total sessions/week is the goal, but we will start gradually.

Compensation:

$2 USD per hour
Paid weekly via Wise or PayPal
Paid 1-week trial included
