Web Developer — Technical SEO with SSH & Claude Code

About the role
This is a hands-on web developer role for someone who does technical SEO the modern way: in the terminal, through SSH, and with Claude Code doing real work alongside you. The strategy is handled. What I need is someone who can get into a client's WordPress site, diagnose what's holding back search and AI visibility, and actually fix it, then keep those systems running without being chased.

You're technically strong, comfortable on the command line, and the kind of person who finishes what they start. You'll execute and improve technical SEO and GEO performance across multiple client sites, and you'll help build the workflows and SOPs that keep everything reproducible as we grow.

A new way of working
You'll work in a modern, AI first stack. We run client activity through Claude as our primary system of record, and we use Claude Code, Claude Cowork, SSH, Notion, GitHub, and WP-CLI to do the actual GEO and SEO work. The one non-negotiable is that you're genuinely open to working differently. If you have already used SSH, you'll feel at home fast.

What you'll do
1. Technical SEO execution

Run technical SEO and GEO audits using tools like Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, Google Search Console, and GA4.
Guided by Claude Code and me, you will diagnose and fix crawlability, indexation, page speed, sitemap, schema, and canonicalization issues.
Optimize site structure, internal linking, and Core Web Vitals.
2. Hands-on site work via SSH and Claude Code

Connect to client WordPress sites over SSH and make changes directly using WP-CLI.
Use Claude Code to write, run, and document the scripts and edits that do the actual work.
Implement structured data and schema markup to improve visibility on both search engines and AI answer engines.
3. GEO and AEO support

Support GEO and AEO work, optimizing client visibility on ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and AI Overviews.
Monitor rankings, traffic, and technical performance, and turn the data into clear summaries and recommendations.
4. Systems and documentation

Execute on-page and technical deliverables for client sites, on time, every time.
Document processes and maintain clean, reproducible workflows and SOPs so the work holds up as the client base grows.
Required experience
Hands-on technical SEO experience (agency or freelance).
Comfortable working over SSH and on the command line; able to operate confidently in a client's server environment.
Experience using Claude Code (or a comparable AI coding tool) to do real development and SEO work, not just experiment.
Strong with the core tools: Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, GA4, Google Search Console.
Solid grasp of HTML, XML sitemaps, ---------- , and core web technologies.
Comfortable in WordPress, ideally with Divi, and familiar with WP-CLI.
Clear written communication and strong organizational skills.
Reliable and self-managing: you track your own commitments and hit deadlines without reminders.
Nice to have
Experience with GEO/AEO strategy or prompt writing.
Familiarity with GitHub-based workflows.
Prior work building or maintaining SOPs for a growing team.

Hours & compensation
Part-time to start, roughly 20 hours per week, with a clear path to full time as the client base grows.
Remote, flexible schedule.
