Web Developer

We need an experienced web developer in the following areas:

Job Duties / Accountabilities:

• Front End and Back End Development (Weighted towards front end development)
• Wordpress development (including customization of templates)
• Shopify Development
• Feature / Function Development using plugins and coding
• Must be an excellent listener, must rapidly understand the client’s needs in order to propose better solutions and therefore answer their needs
• Team player with excellent organization and interpersonal skills
• Flexible and ability to adapt to a complex, short timeline and quickly changing work environment
• You will have to work with designers, developers and project managers to support the delivery of client projects
• Ability to communicate clearly and accurately about timelines, challenges and requirements
• Daily reporting on progress will be required
• Use website security best practices while also backing up all worked on websites

Essential Qualifications / Competencies:

• Working knowledge of Woocommerce Integrations
• Ability to work independently on translating graphics (PSD and XD files) into ready to use web pages using a combination of webpage builders like Elementor or Oxygen and custom code
• Able to use modern coding techniques for consistently looking and fast-performing web pages across all popular browsers (modern CSS is important)
• Knowledge of speed optimization and responsive design
• Knowledge and working capability of custom post types and fields on WordPress.
• Working Knowledge of customizing templates with and without a builder
• Wordpress plug-in debugging and updating
• Ability to do custom coding in:
PHP (mainly for Wordpress customization)
Liquid (Shopify)
JavaScript and JS Frameworks
CSS
HTML
• Strong sense of details and precision (Pixel Perfect is preferred but not mandatory)
• Must have access to reliable internet connection

Preferred Competencies / Additional Nice To Haves :
• Experience with Basecamp, Trello, Slack and Google Suite of products (Sheets, Docs etc.)
• Ability to work on Toronto, Canada time (at least 5 of of 8 hours)
• Ability to solve misconfigurations with server setups
• Ability and desire to learn new technologies
• Ability to publish websites


Working Conditions:
• Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
• Occasional overtime depending on the business needs
• Work on Toronto, Canada time (at least 5 of of 8 hours)* (Must have overlap with Project Manager)
