About Us: Backroom Comedy Club is a comedian-owned and operated stand-up venue in Toronto, pushing the boundaries of live comedy and digital content. In addition to running the club, the founder is also a stand-up comedian with a growing personal brand. We create high-quality, engaging, and often viral content that showcases the club’s unique energy and supports the founder’s stand-up career. We’re looking for a creative, skilled, and efficient Video Editor/Designer to help elevate our content across social media, promotional materials, and long-form video projects.

Who We’re Looking For:

A dynamic, detail-oriented, and fast-turnaround video editor with a strong sense of comedic timing. Someone who understands internet culture, ---------- culture, and what makes digital content pop. You should be organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects at once while keeping up with the fast-paced, ever-evolving world of stand-up comedy.

Responsibilities:

Edit high-quality short-form and long-form video content for social media (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook) and promotional materials.

Design engaging thumbnails, motion graphics, and other visual elements to enhance video performance.

Work with existing footage to craft compelling narratives that align with the tone and style of Backroom Comedy Club and its founder.

Collaborate on ideation, providing creative input on video concepts and execution.

Repurpose long-form stand-up clips into engaging, bite-sized viral content.

Keep up with trends in comedy, social media, and digital content to ensure relevance and maximize reach.

Maintain an organized workflow with project management tools to keep track of deliverables and revisions.

Must-Have Skills:

Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro (or Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, etc.).

Experience with motion graphics and design (After Effects, Canva, Photoshop, or similar tools).

Strong storytelling and pacing skills with an understanding of comedic timing.

Ability to edit for various platforms, optimizing content for engagement.

Comfortable receiving feedback and making quick revisions.

Basic sound mixing and color correction skills.

Strong communication skills and ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

Experience working with comedians or entertainment-based content.

Understanding of digital marketing strategies and audience engagement.

Knowledge of YouTube SEO and best practices.

Familiarity with livestream production/editing.
