JOB OVERVIEW

Role: Social Media Video Editor
Rate: USD 300/month
Schedule: Flexible time
Payment: Paid once a month

About the Role
We are looking for a talented beginner-to-mid-level Social Media Video Editor to help shape a new creator-led brand around a premium interactive workbook on relationship patterns, self-trust, emotional clarity, and personal agency.

This role is ideal for an editor with more than basic technical skills who is hungry to build stronger proof of work, sharpen their creative judgment, and grow into higher-value creator/media work. The right person is not just looking for tasks. They are looking for a founder/creator who will give the ---------- aningful material, creative responsibility, and room to help shape the visual language of a brand from the early stage.

To start, the creator currently has approximately 30 long-form videos that need to be edited and repurposed into platform-specific content for Instagram and YouTube, including Reels, Shorts, longer YouTube edits, teasers, cutdowns, and strategic content variations. This is an ongoing position.

The creator has a background as a marketing growth specialist and C-suite executive, with experience in testing strategies, performance analysis, and data-driven growth. This means the role requires someone who is comfortable working in an audience-led creative environment where strong work is tested, measured, improved, and adapted based on performance.

Responsibilities
- Edit long-form creator footage into multiple social-first videos of different lengths and formats.
- Create Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and YouTube-ready edits that feel native to each platform.
- Repurpose long-form footage into teasers, cutdowns, short-form clips, longer edits, and strategic content variations.
- Identify strong hooks, emotional turns, story arcs, and ---------- nts worth expanding.
- Help translate sensitive, emotionally intelligent material into content that is compelling without becoming trauma-bait, overly dramatic, or generic therapy content.
- Support content strategy by suggesting angles, cuts, series ideas, hooks, titles, thumbnails, captions, and repurposing opportunities.
- Help shape content strategy through audience-led creative testing, including variations in hooks, headlines, framing, pacing, captions, thumbnails, formatting, visuals, and calls to action.
- Create multiple creative variations to understand what increases resonance, retention, trust, and conversion.
- Study performance results and use audience response to sharpen future editorial direction.
- Use AI thoughtfully to improve workflow, including transcripts, clip discovery, hook development, caption drafts, and content organization.
- Maintain a distinctive brand feel: premium, sharp, emotionally intelligent, restrained, and quietly intense.
- Work with real creator footage, transcripts, messy first drafts, and emotionally nuanced subject matter.
- Edit footage that may contain profanity. Profanity is not used gratuitously, but as a tool to communicate intensity. - Competency with its strategic use, or willingness to learn, is required.

Qualifications
The right candidate has edited creator, podcast, educational, personal brand, documentary-style, or social-first content and can provide samples. You may still be building your portfolio, but your work should already show above-average taste, judgment, timing, and creative potential.

You should have experience turning longer footage into shorter pieces, or be able to clearly demonstrate that you understand how to do it.

Strong candidates will demonstrate:
- Story-led editing: You can find the emotional point of a clip, not just clean it up.
- Platform-native repurposing: You understand how Instagram and YouTube differ in pacing, structure, hooks, captions, and viewer behavior.
- Brand differentiation: Your work shows that you can help create a recognizable visual and editorial identity, not just copy current editing trends.
- Entrepreneurial thinking: You think like a creative partner, not only a task-taker.
- Proactivity: You bring ideas, spot opportunities, and make intelligent suggestions before being asked.
- Trend awareness with discernment: You understand current social formats and AI tools, but you know when restraint is stronger than noise.
- Low-ego, test-minded creativity: You care about strong creative work, but you do not become attached to unproven edits, hooks, or formats. You understand that audience response helps reveal what resonates, and you are willing to adapt quickly based on performance.
- Comfort with sensitive material: You can handle emotionally nuanced content with care, intelligence, and restraint.
- Comfort with profanity: You are comfortable editing footage that includes profanity and can use it strategically when it serves the message.

Because this brand uses real footage and sensitive creator-led material, confidentiality is required. Raw footage, unpublished content, transcripts, strategy documents, private context, and personal material may not be shared, reused, or discussed outside the project.
