UI/UX Designer

## About the Role

We're seeking to contract a UI/UX Designer to join our small but growing web agency based out of Seattle, WA USA. This is a foundational role where you'll shape the design direction for client projects across e-commerce and web platforms. You'll have the opportunity to grow with us, influence our processes, and advance as we expand. We're looking for a long-term tea ---------- mber who's excited about building something together.

## What You'll Be Doing

- Design modern, user-centered websites and e-commerce experiences from concept to completion
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs in Figma
- Build and customize Shopify stores using Shopify's theme customizer and admin interface
- Design Webflow sites with a strong understanding of the platform's capabilities
- Conduct comprehensive UI/UX audits to identify usability issues and optimization opportunities
- Leverage AI tools to enhance design workflows and productivity
- Design mobile-first, responsive experiences that work beautifully on all devices
- Ensure designs meet ADA/WCAG accessibility compliance standards
- Participate in client-facing video meetings to present designs, gather feedback, and collaborate on solutions
- Conduct user research and apply UX best practices to improve conversion rates and user satisfaction
- Maintain brand consistency while pushing creative boundaries
- Collaborate with our development team to ensure seamless design implementation

## Required Experience & Skills

**PLATFORM EXPERIENCE:**
- Hands-on experience working within Shopify's admin panel and theme customizer (not as a developer)
- Understanding of Shopify's design capabilities, sections, and customization options
- Familiarity with Webflow or similar no-code/low-code platforms

**DESIGN SKILLS:**
- Proficiency in Figma (primary design tool)
- Strong portfolio demonstrating e-commerce and web design work
- Experience conducting UI/UX audits and providing actionable recommendations
- Proficiency with AI design tools (ChatGPT, Midjourney, or similar) to enhance workflow efficiency
- Mobile-first design approach with responsive design expertise
- Solid understanding of UI/UX principles and accessibility standards (ADA/WCAG compliance)
- Typography, color theory, and layout expertise

**COMMUNICATION & COLLABORATION:**
- Fluent in English (written and spoken) - this is essential for client communication
- Comfortable being on camera during client meetings and presentations
- Willing to be featured on our company website team page with professional photo and bio
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to explain design decisions and accept constructive feedback
- Professional presence and client-facing experience

**TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:**
- Reliable, high-speed internet connection for video meetings and file transfers
- Professional home office setup suitable for video calls

## Nice to Have

- Experience with e-commerce conversion optimization
- Knowledge of design systems and component libraries
- Basic HTML/CSS understanding
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
- Knowledge of other CMS platforms
- Analytics tools experience (Google Analytics, Hotjar, etc.)
