JOB OVERVIEW

JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented Content Writer & Virtual Assistant to help grow Berlin Bound, a travel website dedicated to exploring the best of Berlin, Germany.

You will be responsible for researching local gems, writing engaging blog posts, and assisting with SEO-focused content updates.

This is a part-time remote position.

We are looking for someone who doesn’t just "write for AI" or "for algorithms." Instead, we want someone who can craft stories that make readers feel like they are walking through the streets of Kreuzberg or Mitte.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Writing: Draft 2–5 high-quality blog posts per week (varying between 500 and 2,000 words, depending on the post) ranging from "Best Vegan Brunch in Berlin" to "A Guide to the Berlin Wall Memorial."

Deep Research: Use Google Maps, local blogs, and German tourism sites (translated) to find up-to-date prices, opening hours, and "hidden" spots.

SEO Optimization: Use tools like RankMath to ensure articles rank for target keywords. But we won't be over-optimizing. Instead, we're focusing on creating quality content for human readers.

Formatting: Upload and format posts in WordPress (adding headers, alt-text for images, and internal links).

Content Repurposing: Occasionally turn blog posts into short social media captions or newsletter snippets.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Exceptional English: Must have near-native written English with a conversational, engaging tone.

Research Pro: Ability to find specific details (e.g., "Which U-Bahn station is closest to this gallery?") quickly and accurately.

WordPress Experience: Comfortable working with WordPress. Bonus points if you're comfortable with Kadence!

SEO Knowledge: Familiarity with H1/H2 structures, keyword density, and meta descriptions.

Self-Starter: You can take a topic like "3 Days in Berlin" and run with it without constant hand-holding.

Interest in Travel: (Bonus) If you’ve traveled or have a passion for European history/culture, that’s a huge plus!

PAY & BENEFITS

Pay: $7 USD hourly

Schedule: Flexible schedule with minimal meetings. Most communication will be done via email & Slack. At first, you can expect to work between 3 and 5 hours per week. More hours will become available over time.

Thirteenth Month Pay: Included!

Birthday Bonus: Get a bonus equal to 8 hours of work, times your hourly rate, for your birthday. Must be on the team for at least 90 days to qualify.

Health Insurance Reimbursement: $50 USD per month to contribute towards a monthly healthcare plan from companies like Maxicare or PhilHealth. Must be on the team for at least 90 days to qualify.

Launch Revenue Share Bonuses: Each tea ---------- mber receives a bonus equal in proportion to how our launches go. We believe it's important to share the successes with our virtual assistants!

Holidays Off: Our offices are closed during major holidays in the United States and in the Phillipines. Please note that these are not paid days, but that we won't ask you to work on them. If you'd like to have more hours and work on these days, please let us know during the interview process. You can learn more here: ----------

HOW TO APPLY

To ensure you have high attention to detail, please follow these steps:

• Change the subject line to: "Berlin is Calling – [Your Name]"

• Tell me about one place in Berlin you think sounds interesting and why (a 2-sentence Google search is fine!). Please don't use A.I. for this part; I want to see how you actually write.

• Attach your portfolio or links to 2–3 travel-related articles you have written.

• If you have your own travel blog, or if you've worked with a travel website before, share that as well.

• Tell me your favorite SEO tool and why you like it.
