Do love teaching kids?

We are looking for an experienced and licensed teacher who has been in the field for more than five years to be our virtual tutor that teaches reading comprehension and writing to a group of children in the USA. After each tutoring session, you will need to document what tasks you worked on so that you can share the student’s progress with their parents and program manager. Our ideal candidates have worked professionally with school-age students for at least five years.

Mode of teaching: via Zoom one to one sessions. This is a remote position.

Time frame and Hours per week:. October 2020 through Jan 2021.
Schedule: Each week the tutor will be available for 40 hours a week. Please note, all the children are located in USA in the Central time zone. You must be available on Saturday and Sunday.

Student age range: 9 years - 15 years old (elementary and middle school in the US) 3rd graders are 8 years old

Student status: Most of these students have immigrated to the USA from Central Asia within the last 6 years.

Responsibilities:

Assess, teach and support learners online
Develop an online relationship with learners
Assess online assignments
Provide feedback and answers to the student’s inquiries
Build the student’s confidence and self-worth
Create content and design materials for the subject
Create activities to home the student’s learning (pls clarify what this means)
Conduct ongoing assessments with each student
Have bi weekly calls with program manager
Document each student’s progress in a shared google document
Provide encouragement and positive motivation through a reward system
Set weekly goals and milestones
Deliver quality instruction virtually
Present techniques according to the students learning style

Tutor Requirements:

High school degree or equivalent
Proficient in writing and reading levels through high school level
Proven experience working with children
Must pass background check
Able to work late hours and weekends
Must have reliable internet and laptop and/or desktop computer
