Systems Administrator, Server & Infrastructure (Remote)Tech Guru - IT for Accounting FirmsWhy This Role ExistsAt Tech Guru, we empower accounting firms with secure, high-performance IT that just works. As our Server & Infrastructure Systems Administrator, your mission is to own the reliability and security of the server, virtualization, and identity layers across our clients, all while living our core values of Caring, Accountable, Responsive, and Empathetic service.This is the deep-infrastructure seat. You live in Windows Server, Hyper-V, RDS/AVD, Active Directory, and Entra ID, and you make sure the foundation everything else sits on never wobbles.What Success Looks Like (Outcomes)

Near-Zero Server Downtime: Reduce critical server-side i ---------- for assigned clients to under 1 per quarter through proactive monitoring, scripting, and remediation.
Patch & Backup Assurance: Keep server patch compliance above 95 percent, verify backup success daily, and prove recoverability with tested restores and documented DR runbooks.
Healthy Virtualization Estate: Keep Hyper-V hosts and RDS/AVD session environments tuned, capacity-planned, and free of resource contention.
Hardened Foundation: Secure the server, Active Directory, and Entra layers to SOC 2 and FTC Safeguards expectations, with least-privilege and clean audit evidence.
Build Standardization: Design, document, and maintain gold images and deployment pipelines so server and session-host builds are repeatable and consistent.
Process Mastery: Create or update at least two Core Process documents each quarter, each simpler than its predecessor.
Day-to-day Responsibilities

Build, patch, monitor, and remediate Windows Server (2019, 2022, 2025) and Hyper-V hosts.
Administer Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, certificate services, and file/print roles.
Stand up, tune, and troubleshoot RDS and Azure Virtual Desktop session farms (connection brokers, session hosts, profile management).
Own server backup and disaster recovery (Datto, Cove, or similar), including periodic restore testing.
Design and maintain gold images and automated deployment strategy for server and session-host environments.
Manage Dell server hardware lifecycle: firmware, iDRAC, RAID, and warranty/health.
Resolve SQL connectivity and named-instance issues for accounting application stacks.
Investigate complex server-side escalations and coach frontline techs on prevention.
Generate concise, client-ready server health reports that feed quarterly business reviews.

Must-have Qualifications

5+ years administering Windows Server in an MSP or similar high-volume environment.
Hyper-V management including command-line and PowerShell scripting.
Strong Active Directory and Entra ID administration: GPO, DNS, DHCP, certificates.
Proven PowerShell skills for build automation, patching, and reporting.
Hands-on RDS, terminal server, or AVD session-host experience.
Backup and DR experience with at least one of Datto, Cove, or equivalent.
Excellent spoken and written English, comfortable supporting US-based clients.
Nice to Have

Dell server and iDRAC experience, including troubleshooting via CLI.
SQL Server administration and connectivity troubleshooting.
Experience supporting accounting or other compliance-heavy industries.
Certifications such as AZ-104, MCSA/MCSE, or CompTIA Security+.
