Job Summary:
We are seeking an analytical, process-driven Strategic Project Manager to act as the primary gatekeeper and operational architect for our upcoming initiatives. In this role, you will evaluate incoming opportunities in the EV charging station and vehicle inspection spaces, analyzing them against our strategic goals and past performance to determine viability ("Should we pursue this project?").
You won't just manage timelines—you will be responsible for deconstructing complex project scopes, identifying technical and utility requirements, reviewing or creating winning commercial proposals, and designing step-by-step Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The ideal candidate combines a background in technical project management (infrastructure, utilities, or fleet operations) with a rigorous approach to process standardisation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Evaluation & Feasibility Analysis (Go/No-Go)
Critically evaluate new project leads for charging station installations and vehicle inspection programs to assess financial profitability, technical viability, and operational capacity.
Review prospective station sites or fleet sizes against our historical data to advise leadership on whether a project makes strategic sense to pursue.
Factor in variables like utility grid capacity, local zoning laws, inspection volume, and regional compliance factors during initial evaluation phases.
2. Technical Scope Breakdown & Requirements Gathering
Deconstruct high-level project requests into highly technical, executable project scopes.
Map out exact requirements for EV charging deployment (e.g., electrical load demands, transformer upgrades, hardware/software interoperability, ADA compliance).
Identify exact criteria for vehicle inspection setups (e.g., diagnostic tool integration, physical lane layouts, safety testing compliance, data management systems).
Pinpoint project bottlenecks, supply chain constraints (hardware lead times), and permitting risks early on.
3. Proposal Creation & Review
Draft thorough, professional project proposals, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and Statements of Work (SOWs) for clients, municipal entities, or enterprise fleet partners.
Conduct strict reviews of internally created proposals to ensure cost estimates, deployment timelines, and resource allocations are realistic and protect the company from scope creep.
4. Process Optimization & SOP Development
Build out a library of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for newly approved projects to ensure seamless, highly repeatable field execution.
Author SOPs for charging station installation, site commissioning, safety testing, and post-install maintenance.
Create standardized workflows, inspection checklists, and software training SOPs for vehicle inspection technicians to ensure quality control and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications & Experience:
Experience: 4+ years of project management or operations management experience, specifically within EV charging infrastructure, civil/electrical construction, fleet management, or automotive service/inspection programs.
Analytical Assessment: Strong ability to read technical site plans, utility sheets, or fleet specifications and make data-driven decisions on project feasibility.
Documentation Excellence: Proven track record of drafting complex proposals, SOWs, and creating highly structured, clear SOPs for technical workflows.
Regulatory/Technical Knowledge: * Familiarity with EV charging infrastructure (Level 2 & DC Fast Charging, utility interconnection, permitting).
Familiarity with automotive/vehicle inspection standards, diagnostic equipment, or compliance regulations is a major asset.
Tools: Proficiency with project management platforms (e.g., ClickUp, Asana, Jira, Monday.com) and visual process mapping tools (e.g., Lucidchart, Miro).
Certification: PMP, Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt), or CAPM is highly preferred.
Who You Are:
The Strategic Gatekeeper: You know how to look past the excitement of a new deal and evaluate whether it actually makes financial and operational sense for the team to execute.
Detail-Obsessed: You care about the nuance of a utility grid connection or the exact calibration steps of a vehicle inspection tool, ensuring no detail is missed in the scope.
A Process Creator: You thrive on turning a chaotic, "one-off" project execution into a repeatable, step-by-step SOP system that anyone on the team can follow.
An Effective Communicator: You can easily align utility companies, electrical contractors, inspection technicians, and executive stakeholders on a singular vision.
