The Role
We're seeking an experienced Shopify app developer to help us build a native Shopify app that seamlessly integrates our subscription platform with Shopify stores. You'll be working with our existing subscription management system, widget builder, and API infrastructure to create a world-class Shopify integration.
What You'll Build
Core App Features:

Native Shopify subscription management using Shopify Subscriptions API
Theme app extensions for subscription widgets and product displays
Admin dashboard for merchants to manage subscription boxes and settings
Customer portal integration using Shopify Customer Account Extensions
Seamless checkout integration with subscription bundle handling
Webhook management for order processing and subscription lifecycle events

Technical Integration:

App extensions for product pages, cart, and checkout
Data synchronization between our platform and Shopify
Payment processing integration (Shopify Payments + multi-gateway support)
Real-time inventory management and product sync
Analytics and reporting dashboard within Shopify admin

Required Experience
Shopify Expertise (Essential):

3+ years developing Shopify apps with proven App Store submissions
Deep knowledge of Shopify APIs (Admin API, Storefront API, GraphQL)
Experience with Shopify App CLI and development workflows
Understanding of Shopify Subscriptions API and billing systems
Theme app extensions and app embed blocks development
Shopify App Bridge and embedded app architecture

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Node.js/JavaScript and modern frameworks (React preferred)
Experience with REST and GraphQL APIs
Understanding of webhook handling and event-driven architecture
Knowledge of OAuth 2.0 and Shopify authentication flows
Database design and management (experience with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch a plus)

Subscription/E-commerce Experience:

Previous work on subscription-based applications
Understanding of recurring billing and payment processing
Experience with complex product bundling and dynamic pricing
Knowledge of e-commerce workflows and customer lifecycle management

Preferred Experience

Experience with multi-tenant SaaS applications
Knowledge of PCI compliance and secure payment handling
Familiarity with AWS services and serverless architecture
Understanding of embeddable widget development
Experience with real-time data synchronization
Previous work with subscription box or recurring commerce businesses

Key Responsibilities
Week 1-2: Foundation & Research

Analyze current subscription platform architecture and APIs
Deep dive into Shopify Subscriptions API capabilities and limitations
Design data architecture and sync strategy between systems
Create technical specification and integration roadmap

Week 3-6: Core Development

Build Shopify app foundation with proper authentication and permissions
Implement theme app extensions for subscription widgets
Develop admin interface for subscription management
Create webhook handlers for order and subscription events

Week 7-10: Advanced Features

Build customer portal using Shopify Customer Account Extensions
Implement complex bundle creation and checkout integration
Develop payment processing with multiple gateway support
Create analytics and reporting features

Week 11-12: Testing & Submission

Comprehensive testing across different store configurations
Performance optimization and Lighthouse score improvements
Prepare App Store submission with all required documentation
Support initial merchant onboarding and feedback iteration

Success Metrics

Successful Shopify App Store approval and listing
Seamless data synchronization with zero data loss
Performance scores meeting Shopify requirements (Lighthouse >90)
Positive merchant feedback during beta testing
