ABOUT THE ROLE

Best IT is an Australian managed service provider working with businesses that are preparing their environments for AI. Right now, we are doing a lot of Data Governance and SharePoint overhaul work, rebuilding client environments so they have a clean, structured, and secure path to enabling Microsoft Copilot and other AI tools.

We have an internal Project Manager and Lead Technician overseeing each engagement. We need a skilled SharePoint Specialist to work alongside them, handling the hands-on build and configuration work across multiple client projects.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

- Restructuring SharePoint site architecture for clarity, security, and Copilot readiness
- Auditing and cleaning up permissions, sharing settings, and access controls
- Implementing information architecture, metadata, and taxonomy frameworks
- Migrating content between SharePoint sites and libraries
- Creating and configuring document libraries, lists, and pages to meet governance requirements
- Applying sensitivity labels and data classification aligned to Microsoft Purview standards
- Working to a defined scope and project checklist under the direction of our Lead Tech and PM
- Documenting completed work clearly for handover

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- Strong hands-on experience with SharePoint Online (Microsoft 365)
- Good understanding of SharePoint permissions, sharing, and security best practices
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 information architecture and governance concepts
- Experience with SharePoint content migration (using tools like AvePoint or similar is a plus)
- Understanding of how SharePoint structure relates to Microsoft Copilot and AI readiness
- Comfortable working independently and executing tasks from a brief or technical spec
- Clear communicator in English, written and verbal
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to meet project milestones

NICE TO HAVE

- Experience with Microsoft Purview (sensitivity labels, DLP, compliance)
- Familiarity with Power Automate for SharePoint workflow automation
- Any Microsoft 365 or SharePoint certifications
- Previous work in a managed service provider environment

HOW IT WORKS

This is a project-based engagement. You will be brought in for specific client projects, working remotely within Australian business hours. Depending on quality of work and fit, there is strong potential for ongoing projects as our Data Governance pipeline is active and growing.
