THE PROBLEM WE'RE SOLVING

Every day, millions of users open complex software, get overwhelmed, and give up. They represent lost revenue for companies and, more importantly, people who couldn't access tools that might have transformed their work or business. Customer Success teams cost $80K+ per rep and can only help a fraction of users. The rest—especially at smaller companies—are left to figure things out alone.

This is the tragedy we're ending.

WHAT WE'RE BUILDING

Hyper is creating AI that gives every software user their own infinitely patient, empathic teacher. Our AI doesn't just answer questions—it understands what users see on their screen and actually takes control to show them exactly what to do, like a helpful friend during a screen-sharing session.

Think beyond chatbots. We're building AI that:
- Sees and understands any software interface
- Controls the user's browser to demonstrate workflows step-by-step
- Learns automatically from knowledge bases and user behavior
- Responds with empathy, celebrates small wins, never makes users feel stupid
- Works 24/7 in any language, always encouraging

We're starting with mid-market B2B SaaS and expanding to make software accessible to everyone, not just the tech-savvy.

THE OPPORTUNITY

You'd be joining as one of our first engineers, with significant equity and the chance to shape both our product and engineering culture. Our founder, Joris Machielse, is a 15-year SaaS veteran who's lived this problem. We have design partners already lined up, initial funding secured, and we're ready to build the core team.

This is early enough for massive impact, but structured enough that you won't be building in a vacuum.

WHAT YOU'LL BE BUILDING

- Real-time AI interactions with contextual, empathic responses
- Auto-training systems that ingest knowledge bases and learn from user patterns
- JavaScript widgets that integrate seamlessly into any web application
- Full-stack features using TypeScript, React, NextJS, PostgreSQL (Supabase), Tailwind, and Shadcn.
- Systems that guide users through complex workflows

We keep our stack simple—Docker containers with Dokku on bare metal servers. We're fans of avoiding complexity like Kubernetes until we absolutely need it.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Technical Excellence:
- Senior-level full-stack application development experience
- Interest in and some enjoyment working with AI/LLMs and prompt engineering (this field is only 2-3 years old, so we understand if you're not deeply experienced yet—curiosity and enthusiasm matter most)
- Systems thinking about AI that goes beyond basic prompting—we're building self-learning systems, and it would be amazing if you have experience with evals or advanced prompt engineering, but curiosity to learn is what counts
- Some DevOps experience (you'll help shape our infrastructure)
- Automated testing experience—we believe in shipping with confidence

Product Mindset:
- You enjoy building complete products, not just features
- You've felt the pain of watching users struggle with software
- You're comfortable speaking directly with customers to understand their problems
- You're ruthless about working on what users will see and care about (not polishing code into perfection)

Remote Collaboration:
- Exceptional written and verbal English communication
- Active communicator who makes complex work feel simpler
- Independent thinker who pushes back constructively when something doesn't make sense
- Detail-oriented but fast—you've often felt quicker than colleagues without being arrogant about it
- Team lead experience is a plus (helps with communicating about technical work)
- Flexible problem-solver who sees multiple paths to solutions rather than insisting on one "right" way

Character:
- Humble but highly capable—you let your work speak for itself
- Comfortable with ambiguity and excited to shape something from scratch
- Strong bias toward action, balanced with thoughtful research
- Empathetic—we're building for confused users, so you need to genuinely care about their experience
- Pragmatic collaborator who believes perfect is the enemy of good—we value shipping thoughtful solutions over endless optimization

We're a fully remote team with a strong written communication culture. We have a bootstrapper mentality—build fast, ship continuously, stay close to customers. We're looking for exceptional engineers who are also exceptional humans.

Time zones: We're most active during Central European hours, though we're flexible for the right person.
