Senior Full-Stack Next.js Engineer (Shopify App) — Contract, Remote

ABOUT US
We build a Shopify replay/analytics app that records shopper sessions (rrweb), surfaces friction, and helps merchants reduce churn and boost conversions. We are doubling down on churn reduction initiatives and AI features (session summarization, issue clustering, merchant-facing insights). We need a senior who can hit the ground running and ship fast.

ROLE TYPE
* Full-time contractor (40 hours per week), remote
* Initial 4–6 week contract with extension or conversion if it’s a great fit
* Start date: ASAP

TIMEZONE AND OVERLAP
* Minimum 2 hours daily overlap with Pacific Time (Vancouver)
* For PH, 9:00–11:00 AM PHT works for the overlap window

COMPENSATION
* Senior: 170,000PHP per month (contractor; no employee benefits or 13th month)
* Payments on the 15th and last day of the month

WHAT YOU WILL DO

* Own end-to-end delivery of features in Next.js and Node that reduce churn and improve activation
* Design and ship AI-powered workflows (LLM-backed session summaries, issue clustering, merchant-facing insights)
* Improve the recording pipeline and heatmaps/analytics reliability and performance
* Integrate and optimize Shopify app surfaces: Admin UI, App Bridge, webhooks, Billing, GraphQL Admin API
* Collaborate directly with founder; define small, testable bets; instrument outcomes; iterate quickly

WHAT “GREAT” LOOKS LIKE
* 30 days: ship 2–3 scoped stories (one AI, one core UX); add missing dashboards/alerts for your area
* 60 days: measurable win on a churn driver (errors down, time-to-value down, activation up); first AI feature in GA

MUST-HAVE EXPERIENCE
* 5–8+ years building production web apps as a Senior IC who ships autonomously
* Next.js 14/15, React 18, Node.js
* Queues/workers (BullMQ/Redis), background jobs, S3
* SQL (PostgreSQL), data migrations, query tuning
* Testing, CI, code reviews; strong debugging under time pressure

NICE-TO-HAVE
* (STRONGLY RECOMMENDED) Shopify app development (or equivalent experience with confidence to learn fast): OAuth, Admin GraphQL/REST, webhooks, App Bridge
* Event/recording or analytics pipelines (rrweb or similar)
* Practical AI integration (calling LLMs, prompt/response shaping, privacy/PII handling, cost and latency tradeoffs)
* Heroku, New Relic, Mixpanel
* Web performance optimization and Node/Next profiling
* Shopify Polaris and embedded app UX patterns

WORK SETUP
* Tools: GitHub, Jira, Slack, Loom
* Daily 15-minute standup during the overlap window
* Code review SLA: within 24 hours
* Production hotfixes: same-day where reasonable
