JOB OVERVIEW

About FareFood
FareFood is a B2B SaaS platform that lets independent restaurants order from all of their food distributors in one place instead of juggling half-a-dozen log-ins, emails, and phone calls. From a single dashboard operators can:
Build one cart that respects every distributor’s minimum-order rules and submit all POs in one click.

Watch real-time food-cost % and low-stock warnings.

Track inventory, submit returns, and compare pricing across suppliers—no re-keying.

Early pilots save 27–30 % on food spend and reclaim hours of admin work every week.

Why This Role Matters
Our next stage of growth is all about pipes. We must automatically ingest supplier catalogues, keep prices and stock levels fresh, and push clean, confirmed orders back to each distributor. You will own that integration layer end-to-end—it is literally our moat.

After Your First 60 Days You Will…
Run the data pipeline solo. You design, code, and monitor every flow that moves data into or out of FareFood—catalogues, prices, POs, invoices, returns.

Replace brittle scripts with resilient services. Headless browser scraping or hidden GraphQL today? Fine—but wrapped in retries, observability, and alerting you deploy.

Cut the first distributor over to production EDI traffic. You manage the mapping (X12 850/855/810, EDIFACT ORDRSP/INVOIC), validation, and go-live sign-off with supplier IT.

Document the playbook. Future engineers (and maybe juniors you’ll mentor) follow your standards for code, tests, and data stewardship.

What You’ll Do Day to Day
Supplier Integrations. Design, build, and maintain flows that grab catalogues/pricing via EDI, headless scraping, or undocumented REST/GraphQL APIs.

Catalogue Automation. Normalise packs, units, and SKUs across suppliers in Postgres; keep thousands of items fresh daily with least-cost polling.

Order Workflow. Generate POs, poll for acknowledgements/ship notices, surface status to the app in real time.

Ops Console & Admin Tooling. Build the internal dashboards/APIs we use for catalog moderation, supplier onboarding, and order-exception handling.

Reliability, CI/CD & IaC. Own Docker-based pipelines and IaC (AWS Amplify, Lambda, EventBridge). Add health dashboards, retry logic, alerting, and handle the rare on-call i ---------- .

Collaborate, then run. Pair with our React/Xano front-end crew on data contracts—but you ship autonomously straight to production.

Leverage AI. Use ChatGPT/Copilot or any tool that helps you code, test, and document faster—we celebrate automation, even if it deletes busy-work.

You’re a Fit If You Have
5+ years building production back-end services (start-up or scale-up preferred).

Proven history of EDI integration (X12 850/810/855 or EDIFACT) and bullet-proof reverse-engineering & web-scraping at scale.

Python mastery (our default), with Node/TypeScript familiarity a plus.

Postgres & SQL schema design chops; comfortable joining data in Xano.

AWS experience: Lambda, S3, EventBridge, plus Docker for local dev & CI.

Git-centred workflow, PR discipline, and the judgment to ship incrementally.

The mindset to take a vague problem statement, ship a production-ready solution, measure, then iterate.

Nice-to-Haves
Prior work in food-service supply-chain, marketplaces, or ERP.

Experience writing parsers for PDF/CSV catalogues or building catalog-matching ML models.

Front-end awareness—enough React knowledge to smooth hand-offs with our UI team.

How We Work
Core hours: 08:00 – 16:00 US Eastern; async outside that.

On-call: Very rare weekend pager—only for customer-visible i ---------- .

Team: Tiny and senior; you’ll report to the founding CTO and ship directly to production.

What’s In It for You
Green-field ownership of the integration layer—the backbone of FareFood.

A culture that celebrates automation, even if you code yourself out of repetitive tasks.

Competitive senior salary plus equity possible
