React Native Mobile App Developer (Long-Term)

Wage: $10/hr | 30 hours/week | Paid weekly via Remitly

?? This is NOT a greenfield build. The app already exists and is in active development. I am looking for a reliable, skilled React Native developer who can take ownership of their work, write clean production-ready code, and help get GoShopBlack to launch.

About GoShopBlack:
GoShopBlack is a marketplace mobile app that connects users with Black-owned businesses. The app is built in React Native with a Supabase backend and has draft builds on both Google Play and the Apple App Store. I do regular code reviews via GitHub and expect PRs to be tested, clean, and production-ready before submission. This is a long-term position for the right person — not a one-off project.

What You'll Be Working On:
- Ongoing React Native development for iOS & Android
- Search and filter system by location, category, and business type
- Google Maps API integration (not yet built — this is a key upcoming feature)
- Business profiles (hours, contact info, website links, reviews)
- Customer ratings and review system
- Business submission and admin approval flow
- E-commerce integration for businesses that sell online
- Social login (Facebook & Gmail) plus email/password auth
- Phase 2: push notifications, in-app messaging, ad integration, AI recommendations

What I'm Looking For:
- Strong hands-on React Native experience — you must show me apps you have shipped to the App Store and Google Play
- Strong Supabase experience — this is our backend, no Firebase, Node.js, or AWS
- Google Maps API integration experience
- GitHub proficiency — include your GitHub profile in your application
- Clean, well-structured code with no demo or test code in PRs
- Someone who self-tests thoroughly and does full end-to-end testing before submitting a PR
- Strong communicator who gives daily updates and flags issues early
- Weekly proof of progress required (Git commits, test builds, or screen recordings)
- Willingness to use Hubstaff for time tracking from day one
- Willingness to sign an NDA and contract before starting
- Fluent written and spoken English

How We Work:
- 30 hours per week
- Daily check-ins and progress updates required
- PRs must be fully tested and production-ready before submission
- Time tracked via Hubstaff
- Payment sent weekly via Remitly

1. You are taking over an existing React Native app mid-project. What are the first 3 things you check before making any code changes, and why?
2. If you had 2 weeks to prepare an existing mobile app for launch, what would you prioritize — and what would you intentionally NOT touch? Explain your reasoning.
3. Describe one project where you inherited a messy, incomplete, or poorly documented app and successfully shipped it. What was broken and what did you do first?
4. How do you prove weekly progress on an existing project? Be specific (commits, builds, test links, screen recordings, etc.)
5. What React Native state management approaches have you used in production apps, and how do you d ---------- which one to use?
