JOB OVERVIEW

We are building a systems-driven custom pool, landscaping, and outdoor living company based in Utah, USA. We build high-end concrete pools, spas, and outdoor living spaces, and we're looking for a technical designer to own the engineering-drawing side of our projects - so our field crews and permit submittals get clean, dimensioned drawings and complete material lists every time.
This is not an artistic or rendering role. It is a technical, dimensional, detail-driven role for someone who likes getting spacing, sizing, and specs exactly right. You will work directly with the owner and gradually take ownership of our equipment design, drawing, and material-spec systems. Over time, we want you to become our go-to pool systems designer.

Responsibilities

Design pool equipment sets in 3D using SketchUp Pro + LayOut — pumps, filters, heaters, salt systems, valves, and manifolds - laid out with correct spacing, manufacturer service clearances, and plumbing runs that actually fit
Produce dimensioned drawings for the field crew and for permit submittal
Draw and size utility runs - gas line and power routing on site plans, plus wire gauge and poly-pipe sizing based on distance and load, using manufacturer specs and standard tables/calculators we provide
Build and maintain component "kits" - so every time a piece of equipment is spec'd, the drawing and material list automatically include the fittings, unions, cable, conduit, and consumables that go with it
Read and apply manufacturer installation manuals to get clearances, connection sizes, and requirements correct
Help document processes and build repeatable checklists for the design workflow
Use AI tools (we'll set you up) to speed up the work and improve accuracy
Coordinate with the owner for clarifications, spec details, and priorities

Success in This Role
You will be successful if:

Equipment designs fit correctly the first time - proper spacing, clearances, and plumbing runs
Drawings are clean, dimensioned, and ready for the field crew or permit office without rework
Material lists are complete and accurate, with the right consumables every time
Utility runs are sized and routed correctly
Problems (clearance conflicts, pipe-length issues, missing components) are caught before they reach the field
The design system becomes more organized and repeatable over time

Milestones

First 30 days: fluent in our standard components and in SketchUp/LayOut; able to reproduce an existing equipment-room design from our spec with correct dimensions and clearances
First 90 days: independently producing dimensioned layouts and utility-run drawings from an equipment list, sizing pipe and wire from the rules, and generating accurate material lists with light supervision
First year: you own this workflow, have built and maintained the kit library and sizing rules, and your drawings go out without the owner checking every one

Requirements

Proven ability to produce clean, dimensioned 3D and 2D drawings (SketchUp/LayOut preferred; strong transferable experience from other 3D CAD is fine - you will standardize on SketchUp)
Comfortable reading technical and installation manuals and working from dimensions and specs
Solid technical math - accurate with sizing-type calculations
Excellent written English; good verbal English
Strong attention to detail; double-checks your own work
Reliable internet, reliable computer, and a professional working environment
Ability to work independently and follow processes and checklists
Comfortable learning new software and using AI tools to improve productivity

Preferred Experience

Construction, MEP, plumbing, electrical, or pool/spa exposure
Experience preparing drawings for permit submittal
Materials takeoff, BOM, or estimating experience
Remote work experience

Position Details

Starting at 10 hours per week, with opportunity for additional hours based on performance and company growth
Long-term position with room to grow into our lead pool systems designer
Flexible schedule, with multiple short meetings per week during training, moving to one weekly check-in once you're up to speed (U.S. Mountain Time mornings) ---------- PHP/hr, depending on experience, paid in PHP every other week
Direct communication with the company owner
SSS & Philhealth consideration after 1 year
