Podcast Editor (Audio Engineer)

Position Overview:

We're seeking a skilled podcast editor for a solo-hosted video podcast that critically examines women's issues and popular culture.

This is a 30-minute weekly show that combines investigative journalism, cultural commentary, and personal storytelling to expose how trend function as female oppression.

About The Show:
Format: Solo-hosted video podcast for YouTube (with audio distribution)
Content: Deep-dive analysis of beauty industry economics, celebrity case studies, and social justice commentary
Tone: Direct, punchy, and intellectually rigorous but accessible
Length: 30-minute episodes
Frequency: Weekly
Audience: Women interested in beauty culture critique, economic justice, and feminist analysis

Key Responsibilities

Audio Editing
- Edit conversational, solo-hosted content with natural pacing and flow
- Handle multiple segment transitions with music breaks and branded audio elements
- Clean up "ums," false starts, and natural speech patterns while maintaining authentic delivery
- Balance levels for professional broadcast quality
- Integrate background music and sound design elements

Video Editing
- Create engaging visual podcast format optimized for YouTube
- Podcast will be shot with 2 cameras so switching between camera angles when appropriate and including found footage is essential
- Incorporate props, visual references, and screen shares (websites, photos, documents)
- Handle split-screen effects and visual storytelling elements
- Create compelling thumbnails that align with the show's aesthetic
- Ensure consistent visual branding across episodes

Content Enhancement
- Work with research-heavy content requiring visual citations and data presentation
- Handle sensitive topics (mental health, economic inequality) with appropriate tone
- Maintain editorial integrity while creating engaging content
- Suggest visual elements that support complex arguments

Technical Deliverables:
- Final edited video for YouTube (16:9, MP4)
- Audio-only version for podcast platforms
- Short promotional clips for social media
- Custom thumbnails and episode artwork
- Show notes and timestamps as needed

Required Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years professional podcast editing experience
- 2+ years video podcast/YouTube content editing
- Proficiency in audio editing software (Pro Tools, Audition, Logic Pro, etc.)
- Proficiency in video editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, etc.)
- Experience with solo-hosted, commentary-style content or documentary style podcasts
- Understanding of YouTube optimization and platform requirements
- Strong sense of pacing for long-form content
- Experience with research-heavy or educational content preferred

Ideal Candidate:
- Interest in or knowledge of feminist media criticism
- Experience with socially conscious or political content
- Comfort working with economic data and research citations
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction
- Strong communication skills for collaborative creative process

Project Details:
- Commitment: 1 episode per week
- Timeline: 48-72 hour turnaround preferred
- Start Date: August 11, 2025
