JOB OVERVIEW

Role
We are looking for a developer to modernize and improve our existing PHP-based web application. The project is already live and functional; the goal is to enhance the frontend design and user experience while keeping the current backend logic.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and extend an existing PHP application (plain PHP, not a framework).

Improve and refactor the API layer (authentication, JSON output, error handling).

Modernize the frontend design: cleaner layout, responsive dashboards, compact chart views.

Work with Highcharts (JavaScript) to optimize chart rendering and styling.

Implement a more user-friendly dashboard builder (presets, customization options).

Apply a modern CSS framework (Bootstrap 5 or Tailwind) to upgrade the overall look & feel.

Required Skills

Strong experience with PHP 7/8 (procedural or lightweight MVC).

Solid knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+) and integration of chart libraries.

Experience with Highcharts (or similar visualization tools).

Strong HTML/CSS skills, including responsive layouts.

Ability to work independently with an existing codebase.

Good communication in English.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with modern dashboard UI/UX patterns.

Experience with authentication, API keys, rate limiting.

Ability to propose design improvements, not only code changes.

What we offer

Long-term collaboration on a live platform.

Clear roadmap of improvements (starting with frontend/UI upgrades).

Flexible working hours, remote work.

Our project is an existing web application built in PHP with a focus on time series visualization. The platform is already live and functional: users log in, select from a set of curves (time series), and build their own charts and dashboards. The frontend uses Highcharts (JavaScript) for rendering line charts, stacked bar charts, and tables.

At the ---------- nt, the system works reliably, but the design and user interface feel outdated. Charts take up a lot of space, and the overall layout is not very modern. We would like to keep the existing codebase but improve it by upgrading the frontend look & feel, optimizing the chart presentation, and adding preset dashboards that users can later customize.

The goal is not a full rebuild — rather, a modernization of the existing PHP + Highcharts application, making it look more professional and user-friendly while keeping the current functionality intact.
