WordPress theme and plugin development
12500/monthly
TBD
Aug 20, 2011
My small web design and marketing company is growing quickly and will soon have more work than I can personally handle or easily outsource on a project basis. I need a great developer that I can work with on an ongoing basis. Initially it would be project by project, but as I get busier, and decide on who I want to work with, will switch to an hourly or weekly/monthly salary-type position. Because this is a process of finding somebody that I will work with on an ongoing basis, please take more time than usual to review this job and provide an intelligent and careful response if you are interested.
I'm looking for somebody with excellent WordPress development skills and English communication skills. They'll need to have an excellent understanding of PHP, Java, jQuery, and have experience creating WordPress themes and plugins. One of the primary jobs I will need completed on a regular basis is taking designs and specs and creating a WordPress theme that matches.
I have several upcoming projects, and will pick 2-4 developers to work with on these projects. Then as we complete each, I will select a single developer to continue working with in the future, based on their skills, knowledge, responsiveness, communication skills, and how well they work with me.
Here are the requirements:
-Excellent English communication skills
-Experience creating and modifying WordPress plugins and themes. Those who only have experience modifying themes will probably not be considered, unless they are very knowledgeable.
-Ability to take designs and written specs and turn them into excellent, easy-to-use WordPress themes.
-Excellent Java, jQuery, & PHP skills.
-A working knowledge of WordPress, how it works, and how to develop and run websites on it
-Ability to think for your self, and assertiveness to give me feedback.
-Honesty: it's absolutely imperative that you be completely honest with me. I have worked with far too many sub-contractors that are not honest and try to cover their mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes, I would much rather work with somebody who admits mistakes, claims responsibility and goes to work fixing them than someone who tries to cover up mistakes to try and look good.
-Open communication: this goes with honesty. I need somebody who I can be very open and honest with, and who will be very open and honest with me.
Some suggested skills/abilities:
-Knowledge of design (this is definitely NOT required, I would much rather have an excellent developer with no design skills than a mediocre dev with design skills).
-Knowledge of other programming languages.
-Knowledge of hosting, databases, etc. is a huge plus.
I need examples of your work. If you can't provide examples, I can't consider you as a prospect.
I need you to be open and honest right from the start. I'm looking for somebody who's abilities are very good, but who's price is quite low. If you'll tell me what you need to make to feed your family, etc., then as my business grows, I'll make sure you're well taken care of and you get paid more and more.
Please ask me questions about what kind of work I need done. Rather than me asking all the questions, I need you to be assertive and start asking me questions right now. Ask questions that will help you understand if you are properly qualified and if this is an opportunity that you would like to take.
