The French Revolution & Napoleon Podcast by Grey History is a long-form narrative history show praised for its rigorous research, clear storytelling, and commitment to historiography. Episodes are released twice monthly, alongside exclusive content for members. The show has built a loyal global audience and is preparing to expand into short-form video content.
In addition, I will be launching a new podcast on Australian history in the new year. This show will be lighter and more approachable, delivering engaging narrative storytelling in shorter episodes on a variety of topics.
I handle all research and scripting for French Revolution & Napoleon myself, but I now need a dedicated scriptwriter to support both the existing show and the upcoming Australian series.
The Role
I am seeking a History Podcast Researcher & Scriptwriter to support both current and future projects. This is a remote, part-time role requiring approximately 5 hours per week, with the potential for more as the Australian history podcast develops.
This is ongoing work across multiple episodes. The role has two key components:
French Revolution & Napoleon Podcast – Writing non-core content such as introductions, exits, episode descriptions, and newsletters. (You will not be writing the main episode scripts for this show.)
Australian History Podcast (launching in 2026) – Writing full podcast episode scripts (1,000–2,000 words) as well as introductions, exits, episode descriptions, and newsletters.
Key Responsibilities
For the French Revolution & Napoleon Podcast
Write engaging introductions and exits for episodes, using previous examples as a guide.
Draft clear, concise, and compelling episode descriptions.
Produce professional newsletters based on the original scripts.
Transform and optimise scripts into SEO-friendly content for the website.
Ensure tone, pacing, and style remain consistent with the established voice of the podcast.
For the Australian History Podcast (launching 2026)
Research Australian history topics using reliable and authoritative sources.
Draft full narrative episode scripts (1,000–2,000 words).
Write introductions, exits, and episode descriptions tailored to each episode.
Create newsletters to promote episodes and highlight key themes.
Collaborate with me on topic selection, episode structure, and narrative flow.
What I’m Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
Fluent written English with the ability to write in a professional, engaging narrative style.
Strong research skills with a focus on accuracy and depth.
Ability to replicate the established tone of existing content.
Excellent attention to detail and grammar.
Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage workload effectively.
Attention to detail. To show you’ve read this job description in full, please begin your application with the name of your favourite historical figure and a sentence on why you admire them. Applications that don’t follow this instruction will not be considered.
Nice to Have
Interest in history, especially French or Australian.
Prior experience writing for audio or podcasts.
What I Offer
Competitive Pay — I am open to either an hourly rate or a flat per-script fee, depending on your preference and the type of work.
Flexible Hours — Approximately 5 hours per week to begin with, with the potential for more as the Australian podcast develops.
Long-Term Stability — I am looking for a professional who wants to grow with the shows over multiple years.
Creative Collaboration — Work directly with me on shaping scripts, narrative flow, and storytelling approaches.
Supportive Environment — Professional yet flexible working relationship with clear expectations and respect for your time.
Reliable Payment — I respect your work and will always ensure payments are made fairly and on schedule.
Future Benefits — Beginning in December 2026, I plan to introduce a 13th month bonus based on performance, in line with standard practice for long-term roles in the Philippines.
How to Apply
If this sounds like the role for you, I’d love to hear from you. Please include the following in your application:
Résumé or Online Profile — Your CV, website, or a profile that best represents your professional experience.
Writing Samples — Links to 2–3 writing samples that demonstrate your ability to write in a narrative, engaging style (history-related preferred, but not essential).
Software & Tools — A short note on which writing or research tools you regularly use.
Work Availability — Your current capacity (hours per week) and your preferred start date.
Other Commitments — Please outline any other ongoing clients or projects you are working on, and the number of hours you dedicate to them each week.
Compensation — Your desired hourly rate and/or per-script fee expectations.
Optional (Stand Out from the Crowd!)
Record a short Loom video (1–2 minutes) introducing yourself and explaining why you’re interested in the role. Don’t worry about production quality — I just want to get a sense of who you are and how you communicate.
Next Steps
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete paid trial writing tasks. These will include:
Drafting a short piece (such as an introduction and episode description from a provided script) so I can assess writing quality, style, and attention to detail.
Writing a five-minute podcast episode on Australian history (~700 words) to demonstrate narrative ability, research skills, and tone.

Applicants must have an ID Proof score of at least 80 on onlinejobs.ph to be considered.
