We're building a YouTube show called Dark Marketing Stories. Each episode exposes the psychological tactics behind famous brands — Coca-Cola, IKEA, De Beers — and turns them into lessons viewers can use in business and in life.
Think 'Why Files' meets 'Johnny Harris'. Every video is 10-12 minutes, fully scripted, cinematic, and visually rich. The host talks to camera about 40-50% of the time. The rest is AI-generated visuals, historical imagery, motion graphics, stat overlays, documents, and visual storytelling that illustrates the story.
We need an editor who can do both: make the host look and sound compelling on camera AND build the visual world around the story.
Before applying, please watch:
Johnny Harris on YouTube — notice how he uses maps, documents, and motion graphics to break up the talking head and illustrate ideas visually
Why Files on YouTube — notice the pacing (something visual changes every 6-9 seconds), the AI-generated imagery, and how the story escalates throughout
What you'll do:
Edit 1-2 fully scripted episodes per week (10-12 minutes, cinematic and story-driven)
Create AI-generated images and short video clips to illustrate stories (Midjourney, DALL-E, Runway, Leonardo, or similar)
Build motion graphics: stat overlays, timelines, comparison graphics, text animations, and lower thirds
Source historical photos, brand imagery, and documents that support each story
Create 10-20 short-form clips per week adapted for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn
Design thumbnails that stop scrolling
Build tension and escalation across 10-12 minute videos
Must-have:
Strong video editing skills — we don't care what software you use as long as your work is excellent
Experience creating visual essays or story-driven content, not just talking head edits
AI image generation experience (Midjourney, DALL-E, Runway, Leonardo, or similar)
Motion graphics ability (After Effects, DaVinci Fusion, or similar)
Ability to source and incorporate historical images, documents, and brand visuals
Understanding of retention editing: hooks, pattern interrupts, pacing, escalation
Clean animated caption and subtitle creation
YouTube thumbnail creation
Understanding of how content differs across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and
Reliable internet for large file transfers
Good English comprehension
Available to overlap with US Central Time for 3-4 hours daily
Hunger to become world-class at this
Nice to have:
Experience editing Why Files, Johnny Harris, or similar visual essay formats
Color grading and sound design skills
Experience with AI video generation (Runway, Pika, Kling)
Interest in business, marketing, psychology, or dark history
What we offer:
Full-time, long-term position
$1,100/month base + performance bonuses tied to channel growth (pay grows permanently up to $1,700+/month, plus bonuses for viral content, great ideas, and consistent delivery)
Creative freedom within brand guidelines

Final decision and offer
To apply:
Send 2-3 links to videos you have edited that include visual storytelling, not just talking head edits. Tell us which parts were your work.
Send 1-2 examples of AI-generated images or motion graphics you have created.
Watch a Why Files or Johnny Harris video and in 3-4 sentences tell us what editing techniques you would steal for a dark business storytelling channel.
We only respond to every application that includes all three.
