Mission

Own the brain + service behind our native-ads auto-optimizer: define Bayesian rules, backtest profit impact, and ship a lightweight rules API that proposes safe, auditable bid/budget/site/ad actions.

What you’ll do

Decision Science (Policy)

Set KPI policy (Target CPA/ROAS), priors, min-samples, loss caps, cooldowns.

Design zero-conversion and bad-CPA stop rules; bid/budget step heuristics; dayparting.

Run log-replay backtests; quantify profit ?, edit volume, false-pause rate; operate shadow mode ? auto-apply.

Engineering (Rules Service & Data)

Model data into analysis-ready tables/views (hourly & trailing windows; posterior calculators).

Build a small rules endpoint that returns actions with reason/confidence/cooldown; emit Slack-style digests.

Ensure idempotency, retries, read-after-write checks, and audit logs/rollback.

Outcomes (first 90 days)

30d: Baselines + priors; policy table; shadow digest live.

60d: Backtested thresholds; low-risk auto-actions live (zero-conv cuts, step-downs, small bid nudges).

90d: Budget step-ups with risk budgets; dayparting; publisher tiering; rollback playbook.

Must-haves (skills, not specific tools)

5+ yrs in ads/growth/marketplaces shipping automation (not just dashboards).

Strong coding in a modern language (e.g., Python/TypeScript/Go/Java) and production service experience.

Excellent SQL and data-modeling in a warehouse; comfortable building reproducible transforms.

Hands-on experimentation/Bayesian decisioning applied to CPA/ROAS targets.

Evidence of guardrails thinking: loss caps, cooldowns, edit limits, exploration %.

Nice-to-haves (examples only)

Experience with native ad APIs (Outbrain/Taboola/RevContent) or other paid-media APIs.

Familiar with any orchestrator/metrics/BI (e.g., Prefect/Airflow/Dagster; Grafana/Prom; Looker/Metabase).

Comfort with bandits/response curves; queues/workers; feature pipelines.
