*ABOUT THIS PROJECT*
Sage is a modern career development platform that helps job seekers connect with top coaches and track their progress through tools like application tracking, resume feedback, interview scheduling, and personalized dashboards. Our platform serves four types of users: Clients, Coaches, Employees, and Admins.
We’re looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Full-Stack Web Developer who can help us build and improve this platform — screen by screen — based on a detailed sitemap and written prompts. You'll work closely with our founder (based in the US) and collaborate asynchronously using tools like Slack and Notion.
This is a brand new project - there's no existing code, so you'll be building everything from scratch. You'll be the first developer on this project and will work directly with me to build the initial product fast while making sure it's built properly for future growth.
*WHAT YOU'LL DO*
- Build the entire platform from zero - authentication, database, user interface, AI features
- Use AI development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI, etc.) to build quickly
- Set up the database and create the data architecture
- Integrate AI APIs (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) into coaching workflows
- Deploy and maintain the application
- Write clean, documented code that other developers can understand later
*REQUIRED SKILLS*
*Must Have*
- Strong experience with React, Next.js, or Vue.js
- Backend development with Node.js, Python, or similar
- Database experience (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Supabase, or Firebase)
- Experience setting up authentication systems (Clerk, Auth0, NextAuth, or similar)
- API development and integration
- Active user of AI coding tools - you must be experienced with:
- - - Cursor, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, or similar AI development tools
- Using AI to accelerate development while maintaining code quality
- Comfortable using Git and GitHub
- Very strong English communication skills (written)
- Familiarity with responsive design principles and building clean UI components
- Solid database knowledge and comfort working with dashboards, forms, and user roles
- Ability to read and work from text-based screen descriptions or flow charts
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Willingness to provide daily or weekly updates via Slack or Loom
- Comfort working with tools like Notion, Slack, and simple screen annotation apps
- Able to self-manage and stay organized in an async, fast-moving environment
*Nice to Have*
- Experience with Vercel, Netlify, or similar deployment platforms
- Previous work on SaaS products
- Experience with AI/LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google)
- Familiarity with Supabase, Firebase, or similar
- Understanding of TypeScript
- Experience building dashboards or admin panels
- Worked on coaching, HR, or job search-related platforms
*WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT*
? You're comfortable starting projects from scratch
? You actively use AI tools like Cursor or Claude Code in your daily work
? You can work independently and make good technical decisions
? You balance moving fast with writing clean, maintainable code
? You can explain your work clearly and document as you go
? You're excited about building something new and being part of early-stage growth
IMPORTANT: This Is NOT Maintenance Work
This is NOT about maintaining existing code or making small changes to an existing system.
You will be:
- Making ALL the technical decisions about frameworks and tools
- Building from completely empty - no existing codebase
- Setting up hosting, databases, authentication, everything
- Creating the foundation that will grow into a full platform
*MY EXPECTATIONS* (First Month - Trial Period)
*Week 1*
- Propose tech stack and get my approval
- Set up hosting, database, authentication
- Build basic user interface structure
- Daily check-ins
*Weeks 2-3*
- Add features for admins
- Build core coaching workflows
- Build core client workflows
- Get testing and deployment working smoothly
*Week 4*
- Launch MVP to first beta users
- Demo the working product
- Documentation for future developers
Important: This first month is a paid trial period to see if we work well together. If everything goes well and we hit these milestones, we'll continue long-term.
Using AI tools like Cursor and Claude Code, I would like to move very fast!
*TECH STACK PREFERENCES*
I'm open to your recommendations, but I prefer:
- Popular, well-known frameworks (so other developers can join later)
- Modern tools that have good AI coding support
- Quick to deploy solutions (Vercel, Railway, Supabase, etc.)
- Proven technologies over experimental ones
You'll propose the specific stack, but it should be easy to hand off to other developers in the future.
*HOW TO APPLY*
Please send:
- Your CV/resume with links to previous work
- Portfolio or GitHub - I want to see code you've written
- Answers to these questions:
--- Which AI coding tools do you use regularly? (Cursor, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, etc.)
--- Show me an example of a project you built from scratch - what tech did you use?
--- What would you recommend for this tech stack and why?
--- How many hours per week are you available?
--- What is your rate expectation per month?
--- Screen recording (optional but helpful): Record a quick 3-5 minute video showing you using an AI coding tool to build something simple
*WHAT I OFFER*
- Competitive pay for Philippines market
- Detailed screen checklist, sitemap, and sample screen descriptions
- AI tool subscription provided - I'll cover the cost of Cursor Pro, Claude Code, or similar for this project (exclusive use for this project only, not for other work)
- Full autonomy on technical decisions
- Long-term opportunity - if this goes well, you could lead the engineering team
- Direct, async communication the founder (me!) - no multiple managers
- Flexible schedule as long as work gets done
- Growth potential - equity/profit sharing possible as project succeeds
Ready to build this together? Apply now with your portfolio and answers.
I review applications daily and will respond to strong candidates within 24-48 hours.
Thanks for checking this out!
