Full-Stack Developer (NestJS, React, MongoDB & Prisma/Postgres)

About the Role

We are looking for a part-time Full-Stack Developer to help maintain, improve, and scale our internal operations platform for a growing multi-location sandwich shop.

You will work alongside our Technical Project Lead to support ongoing development, troubleshoot issues, improve system reliability, and build new operational features.

This is a long-term retainer opportunity starting at approximately 10–20 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and extend existing NestJS modules including Inventory, Scheduling, Invoices, Employee Management, and POS integrations.
- Troubleshoot and improve authentication, permissions, and user access controls.
- Debug issues across React, API, and database layers.
- Improve reliability of scheduled jobs and reporting processes.
- Assist with staging and production environment synchronization.
- Collaborate with the project lead on new features and system improvements.
- Document solutions and provide clear progress updates.

Requirements

- Experience building and maintaining production applications using React and NestJS.
- Experience working with both MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with Prisma ORM and Mongoose.
- Understanding of JWT authentication and role-based permissions.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Responsive and reliable communicator who provides regular progress updates.
- Easy to work with and able to collaborate effectively with developers, project leads, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable receiving feedback, discussing solutions, and adapting to changing priorities.
- Able to clearly explain technical issues and recommendations in simple terms.
- Strong attention to detail and ownership of assigned tasks.

Nice to Have

- Experience with CASL permissions.
- Experience with Render hosting.
- Experience supporting internal business or operations software.
- Experience with POS, inventory, scheduling, or reporting systems.

Initial Focus

Your first priority will be helping investigate and resolve staging vs production synchronization issues, including:

- User role mismatches between MongoDB and PostgreSQL environments.
- Environment variable configuration across services.
- UAT and deployment workflows.
- Data consistency between staging and production systems.
