Founding Automation Engineer (n8n + AI) – Remote / Full-Time

Salary: $1,500/month USD (Paid bi-weekly)

Role Type: Full-Time (40 hrs/week)

1. The Opportunity
We are a profitable, bootstrapped AI automation agency. We are small (<1 year old), fast, and growing.

We are looking for our First Technical Hire. This is not a task-based "virtual assistant" role. This is a "Head of Engineering" style role where you will have total ownership over the tech stack. You will work directly with the founders, make architectural decisions, and build systems that define the company.

2. The Mission
We don't just use n8n to connect Google Sheets to Slack. We use n8n as a backend logic engine to build complex, production-grade applications.

You will be building:

- Autonomous Agents: Systems that can think, plan, and execute tasks.
- RAG Pipelines: Ingesting unstructured data, creating embeddings, and retrieving context for LLMs.
- ETL Workflows: Robust data pipelines that move and transform data between APIs and SQL databases.

3. Who We Are Looking For
You are a Developer first, Automator second. You might be a Node js / Python developer who realized that n8n allows you to ship products 10x faster. You know that "low code" doesn't mean "no code."

Your Toolkit:
- JavaScript/TypeScript: You are comfortable writing complex Function Nodes in n8n.
- Databases: You know how to design a schema in PostgreSQL/Supabase and write raw SQL queries.
- API Integration: You understand OAuth, pagination, rate limits, and error handling.

4. Key Technical Challenges (The Fun Stuff)
We need someone who has experimented with or built solutions involving:

- RAG: Experience with Vector DBs (Pinecone, Supabase pgvector) and understanding chunking strategies.
- Data Integrity: Building error handlers that alert us when a workflow breaks, rather than failing silently.
