Finance Manager / Financial Controller

About Us

We are a growing Australian manufacturing and distribution group operating across multiple entities and locations.

We are currently improving our finance systems, reporting, inventory controls, and operational processes and are looking for an experienced Finance Manager or emerging Financial Controller to help drive that journey.

This is not a support role.

You will work directly with the CFO, lead a small finance team, and play a key role in strengthening the finance function as the business continues to grow.

About the Role

You will be responsible for leading the day-to-day finance function across multiple Australian entities.

The role includes ownership of:

Month-end close and financial reporting
Inventory accounting and reconciliation
WIP and job costing analysis
Cash flow forecasting
Financial controls and process improvement
Finance team leadership

You must be comfortable working independently, solving problems, improving processes, and delivering reliable financial information to management.

Key Responsibilities
Own the month-end close process across multiple entities
Prepare journals, accruals, reconciliations and management reports
Lead and direct finance tea ---------- mbers
Review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
Prepare and maintain a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast
Manage inventory accounting and stock reconciliations
Prepare WIP schedules and job costing analysis
Partner with operations to improve costing accuracy and financial visibility
Coordinate BAS and statutory compliance activities
Improve finance processes, controls and documentation
Support the CFO with reporting, analysis and business improvement projects

Essential Experience
Accounting degree
Minimum 5 years commercial accounting experience
Experience in manufacturing, distribution, inventory, construction, project-based or job-costing environments
Strong inventory accounting and reconciliation experience
Experience preparing WIP schedules or job costing reports
Proven experience owning month-end close and management reporting
Experience leading or mentoring finance staff
Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills
Excellent written and spoken English
Able to work independently with minimal supervision

Highly Desirable
Odoo ERP experience
Experience working with Australian businesses
Knowledge of GST, BAS, PAYG and payroll processes
Cash flow forecasting experience
CPA, CA or equivalent qualification
