Editorial & Book Layout Designer

We are looking for a highly skilled Editorial & Book Layout Designer to join our team.
This is NOT a generic graphic design role.
We are specifically looking for someone who specializes in book design, editorial layout, and professional PDF formatting, with real experience preparing files for print and digital distribution.
Your role will be to take already-written content (books, manuals, guides, PDFs) and transform it into visually powerful, clean, readable, and print-ready publications.

What you will work on:
Book and manual layout (PDF & print)
Professional pagination and typography
Editorial hierarchy (titles, subtitles, callouts, spacing)
Interior book design (not writing)
Book covers (front / spine / back)
Preparing files for professional printing
Improving existing PDFs and layouts
Maintaining consistent editorial design standards

Required skills:
Strong experience with Adobe InDesign (mandatory)
Excellent knowledge of editorial layout & typography
Experience designing books, manuals, or long-form PDFs

Understanding of print preparation:
CMYK vs RGB
Bleed, margins, trim, safe areas
Font embedding
Print-ready PDF export
Attention to detail and consistency

Software:
Adobe InDesign (required)
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Photoshop
Acrobat Pro (advanced PDF editing is a plus)

Mindset:
Detail-oriented
Quality-focused
Able to suggest layout and visual improvements
Understands reader experience, not just aesthetics

You MUST have a portfolio with real editorial work, such as:
Books
Manuals
Guides
Long-form PDFs
Print layouts
