We are primarily looking for an intermediate to experienced candidate. Candidates with strong commercial solar, public works, GSA, government contract, electrical, or construction project management experience may qualify for the higher end of the range.

SCHEDULE
Full-time schedule with Pacific Time overlap required. Exact hours can be discussed, but the candidate must be available during key U.S. business hours for meetings, internal coordination, customer updates, vendor communication, and project follow-up.

JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a full-time Commercial Solar Project Manager to help manage commercial, public works, and government solar projects from pre-construction through project completion.

This role is for someone with real project management, construction, solar, electrical, or engineering coordination experience. You must be highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of keeping projects moving without needing constant follow-up.

Our projects may include commercial rooftop solar, solar carports, battery energy storage systems, electrical upgrades, public works projects, and government contract work. Project contract values may range up to $5M.

This is a long-term full-time role with growth potential for the right person.

ABOUT US

Option One Solar is a growing solar and electrical contractor based in California. We install and manage residential, commercial, public works, and government solar projects.

We are expanding our commercial and government contract division and need a strong project manager who can help us stay organized, move projects forward, and communicate clearly with our internal team, customers, vendors, subcontractors, engineers, utilities, and agencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will help manage commercial solar projects from planning through closeout, including:

Reviewing project scope, contract requirements, plans, specifications, and schedules
Coordinating with internal tea ---------- mbers, engineers, designers, estimators, vendors, subcontractors, customers, and agencies
Creating and maintaining project schedules
Tracking project milestones, deadlines, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and closeout documents
Helping manage public works and government contract requirements
Coordinating permits, inspections, utility interconnection items, and project documentation
Reviewing plans and identifying issues before they become field problems
Tracking material procurement, delivery timelines, and vendor updates
Helping prepare project status updates for management and customers
Maintaining accurate records in our CRM and project management systems
Helping ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and with strong communication
Supporting commercial solar carport, rooftop, ground mount, ESS, and electrical projects
Helping identify project risks, bottlenecks, and missing information early
Assisting with project closeout packages, warranty documents, as-builts, and final deliverables
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Please only apply if you have real experience with project management, construction, engineering coordination, solar, electrical, or a closely related field.

Strong candidates should have experience with some or all of the following:

Commercial solar project management
Public works or government-funded construction projects
Commercial construction coordination
Electrical construction or renewable energy projects
Reading construction plans, electrical plans, single line diagrams, and specifications
Project schedules, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and closeout documentation
Coordinating vendors, subcontractors, engineers, and field crews
Customer and stakeholder communication
Managing multiple projects at the same time
BIG PLUS

These are not required, but they are highly preferred:

Experience with GSA government contract work
Existing relationships with government agencies, public works departments, schools, municipalities, military bases, or commercial property owners
Experience with U.S. public works requirements
Experience with commercial solar carports
Experience with battery energy storage systems
Experience with utility interconnection
Experience with prevailing wage documentation or certified payroll coordination
Experience with California construction projects
Experience using CRMs or project management software such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Project, Monday, Asana, ClickUp, Buildertrend, Procore, or similar tools

ENGLISH REQUIREMENT

Excellent written English is required.

Strong spoken English is preferred because this role may involve internal meetings, vendor calls, customer updates, and project coordination.
