Automation & AI Workflow Engineer (Make/Zapier)

Role
You’ll develop internal and client-facing tools. You often build workflows with Make/Zapier, extend them with your own code (e.g., Python/Node), and integrate APIs, webhooks, and data sources (Airtable/Notion/Sheets/SQL). The goal: automate processes, unify data, create reports & dashboards, and reliably handle recurring tasks.

What You’ll Do
Design, build, and maintain automations in Make or Zapier (multi-step, webhooks, error handling, rate limits).
Develop small to mid-sized microservices (e.g., in Python or Node/TypeScript) to extend automations (custom webhooks, API bridges, data processing).

AI workflows:
Integrate LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) into Make/Zapier and custom services.
Build RAG pipelines (retrievers + vector DBs such as Pinecone/Weaviate/FAISS) for research, classification, and summarization.

Do prompt design & evaluation (A/B prompts, guardrails, hallucination checks).
Manage cost, latency & quality (batching, caching, rate limits, telemetry/monitoring).
API integrations: Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, Airtable, ClickUp/Jira, CRM/helpdesk, email/senders, SEO tools (Search Console, Ahrefs/SEMrush), Ads APIs, etc.
Data pipelines & reporting: ETL/ELT, scheduled exports/syncs, report & dashboard generation.
Quality assurance: logging, alerting, retries, secrets/env handling, version control (Git).
Document flows and hand over to team/client.

Must-Haves
1+ year hands-on with automation platforms (Make or Zapier) building complex scenarios.
Practical LLM experience (at least one: OpenAI/Anthropic/Google) with real use cases (classification, extraction, summarization, content ops).
Solid programming skills in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js).
Strong API skills (REST, OAuth2, webhooks), JSON, and debugging.
Experience with databases/data stores (Airtable, Google Sheets, MySQL/PostgreSQL or similar).
Clean, traceable code, Git workflow, clear documentation.
Excellent written and spoken English.

Nice-to-Haves
Google Apps Script, Cloud Functions (GCP/AWS), Docker.
Experience with SEO/marketing stacks (Search Console, Ads, Analytics, Ahrefs/SEMrush).
Web scraping with Playwright/Puppeteer (compliant with robots/ToS).
BI/visualization (Looker Studio, Metabase, etc.).
Basic security & compliance understanding (API keys, least privilege, PII).
