About the Role
We are looking for a high-ownership Node.js + Python Engineer to help productionize an ultrasound platform that integrates AI, media processing, and clinical learning workflows.
This is not a feature-factory role. It is infrastructure ownership.
You will work directly with senior technical leadership to turn sophisticated prototypes (often in Python) into reliable production Node.js systems, and also create and maintain standalone Python apps, that support AI-assisted ultrasound education and clinical tools.
What You’ll Build
Production-grade Node.js and Python backend services
Convert Python prototypes into stable production systems
AI orchestration pipelines using external AI/ML APIs
Media ingestion and processing workflows for images and video
MongoDB-backed data services
AWS infrastructure integrations
Internal tooling to stabilize and scale experimental prototypes
Core Responsibilities
Design and implement scalable backend systems in Node and Python
Design async workflows, queues, and data pipelines
Integrate third-party APIs, including AI/ML services
Productionize experimental features into stable releases
Collaborate with distributed U.S. and Philippines-based tea
Communicate clearly through documentation, specs, and async updates
Operate independently while staying aligned with leadership
Required Experience
Strong professional experience building production systems with Node
Experience designing backend infrastructure, including queues, pipelines, and async workflows
Working proficiency in Python
Experience with MongoDB
Experience deploying systems on AWS
Experience integrating third-party APIs
Ability to work and collaborate effectively in English
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to operate independently with high ownership
Nice to Have
Experience with ultrasound, medical imaging, or medical image processing
Familiarity with OpenAI or Gemini APIs
Experience processing large media files, including image or video workflows
Background in AI product infrastructure
Experience in healthcare or education platforms
Experience scaling early-stage systems into production reliability
Strong documentation and observability habits
How You Work
You:
Take ownership without waiting to be told
Look forward to being mentored on the intersection of ultrasound images and AI
Ask clarifying questions early
Communicate risks and tradeoffs clearly
Enjoy building reliable systems
Can follow direction while contributing thoughtful improvements
Thrive in distributed teams across time zones
Engagement Details
Remote role
U.S. time zone strongly preferred
Regular collaboration with a distributed engineering team
30 hours/week up to full-time
Short-term contract with strong potential to convert to full-time based on performance
You will help build the infrastructure layer behind AI-driven clinical tools and medical education workflows.
