AI Automation Engineer

You are the third engineer on our AI automation team. Two engineers already own marketing and finance automation. You are the flexible builder: you drop into whichever department has the highest-leverage system to ship next, architect it end to end, deploy it to run on its own, and document it so the team can maintain and scale it.

This is not a task-queue job. You are hired as a builder and an innovator. When there is no active request, your job is to find the next process worth automating and prototype it.

What You Will Do:
-Architect and deploy automation using Claude (API + Skills), n8n, and custom code
-Build AI agents and workflows that run persistently on our cloud environment (Azure Virtual Desktop) — no manual daily triggering
-Integrate APIs and OAuth flows across the stack: GA4, Google Search Console, SEMrush, WordPress, QuickBooks/NetSuite, Microsoft 365, and others
-Write custom Python or Node.js where a clean n8n node does not exist — connectors, data transforms, webhooks
-Build Claude Skills that encode our processes and brand standards into repeatable, documented systems
-Document every build to our standard structure so any engineer can step in cold
Proactively surface automation opportunities and present at least one new idea or improvement each week

How We Work:
-Every automation follows the same pattern: data source ? n8n orchestration ? staging ? Claude processing ? delivered output, with a human review gate before anything goes public. Claude is our primary engine; n8n is the backbone; custom code fills the gaps. Everything runs on the AVD. Everything is documented.

Required Skills — Non-Negotiable:
You must already be able to do these without supervision:

-n8n in production — webhooks, API nodes, branching/conditionals, error handling and retries, OAuth. Tutorial-only experience will not pass screening.
-LLM API integration — Claude, ChatGPT, or equivalent, including prompt design and agent/workflow logic. We are Claude-first; you must be ready to build that way.
-Custom code — Python and/or Node.js for connectors, transformations, and scripting
APIs and auth — REST, JSON, API keys/tokens, OAuth flows
-Cloud/remote infrastructure — comfortable working on a remote desktop or VPS, with Git and VS Code
-Strong written English and the discipline to document what you build

Nice to Have:
-MCP servers, ---------- , Zapier
-MSP or IT-services background

Who Should NOT Apply:
-You have only followed tutorials and cannot explain how your own workflows work
-You need constant supervision and clear tickets to do anything
-You want guaranteed pay without showing results
