eCommerce Accountant & Bookkeeper

Company Description:

We are a dynamic and growing ecommerce company, managing two Shopify storefronts and one Amazon storefront. We are seeking an experienced Ecommerce Accountant to handle our monthly accounting needs. We sell our products at ---------- and ---------- , utilizing one bank account and 10 credit cards.

Position Overview:

The Ecommerce Accountant will be responsible for the monthly close process, bookkeeping activities, and the downloading, entering, & matching of cash and credit card activities. This role will involve the utilization of QuickBooks Online for all financial tracking and reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has strong analytical skills, and can work independently to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial data. This role reports directly to the CEO and will also involve a review of month-end close tasks, documents, financial statements, and processes.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize QuickBooks Online to download, enter, and match cash and credit card transactions from our ecommerce platforms, maintaining an accurate financial record.
• Perform monthly bookkeeping duties including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparations.
• Manage the month-end close process, ensuring all financial data has been entered and accounted for correctly in QuickBooks Online.
• Review tasks, documents, financial statements, and processes relating to the month-end close to guarantee completeness and accuracy.
• Prepare and post monthly accruals, prepayments, and other adjusting entries.
• Liaise with other teams and external parties such as banks, vendors, and customers when required.
• Support internal and external audit procedures.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives to streamline accounting tasks and enhance financial reporting.

Qualifications:

• Desired: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or equivalent professional qualification
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the ecommerce industry.
• Proven experience using QuickBooks Online is mandatory.
• Proven experience with ecommerce platforms, particularly Shopify and Amazon.
• Must provide current Shopify ecommerce businesses they perform monthly bookkeeping for as references, including contact information.
• Proficient in the use of Excel.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
