Summary:
A mechanical designer uses computer-aided design and drafting software to develop drawings and plans for manufacturing industries. Their technical drawings that are used by engineers and leaders may depict plans for anything from machine parts to the whole concept of the machine Mechanical designer usually decides on the appropriate mechanical parts needed for a particular machine based on computations and measurements.
Job Description:
• Design and redesign complex layouts and drawings from general written or verbal specifications from Group Leader.
• Knowledgeable in Solid Works and AutoCAD.
• Can do calculations on the perspective projects prior to completing the technical drawings;
• Work with project team to execute project on time and on budget.
• Can support during the entire project process to ensure that the design specifications are met;
• Review design layouts to find and resolve problems involving compatibility with basic design concepts.
• Work with engineer and manufacturing team to inspect and resolve problems with existing designs.
• Read and understands 2D and 3D drawings. • Make corrections to the drawings as advised by the Superior.
• Can analyze problems that may arise during the manufacturing process and recommending solutions;
• Provide alternative design concepts to meet customer requirements.
• Create and update database of design records for future reference purposes.
• Makes necessary computations on mechanical parts before placing orders.
• Works hand in hand with members in the production for on-going projects.
• Must have concern not only with the project design, but with the project cost as well.
