Rock Star Bookkeeper

We are a growing accounting firm based in South Africa seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Virtual Bookkeeper to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing various transactions, performing reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records up to the trial balance level. This half-time position requires 4 hours of work per day (There is a potential to become full-time), 4 days a week, with at least 4 hours overlapping with South African working hours.

Key Responsibilities:
• Process a wide range of financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other general ledger entries
• Perform bank reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of financial records up to the trial balance level
• Use accounting software, including Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage Online, Wave Accounting and Hubdoc, to manage financial records and transactions
• Collaborate with the team using email and Microsoft Teams for internal communication
• Track tasks and progress using Karbon HQ, providing regular updates and ensuring timely completion of assigned work
• Assist with importing trial balances into financial statement software and perform necessary preparations before accountant finalization

Requirements:
• Minimum 10 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably with a recognized bookkeeping qualification
• Proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks Online, and Hubdoc
• Previous experience working for accounting firms is an advantage
• Strong English communication and collaboration skills, with experience using email, Microsoft Teams, and Karbon HQ
• Ability to work independently, manage tasks efficiently, and meet weekly deadlines
• Flexibility to work with different time zones, ensuring at least 4 hours of overlap with South African working hours
• Work well together as a team
