Controller
Position Summary
The Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. This role reports to the CEO.
Key Capabilities
• Demonstrable experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP a must.
• Demonstrable experience with Microsoft Power BI very helpful.
• Advanced Excel knowledge and skills a must
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio is a plus
• Experience with Jet Reports, Analytics, Budget is a plus
• Solid and demonstratable report writing, query and scripting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Strong knowledge of internal controls around financial information
• Strong analytical experience and business acumen
Major Job Responsibilities and Duties
• Oversee and maintain a system of accounting controls to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial transactions
• Oversee the accurate and timely execution of duties related to accounts receivable and accounts payable
• Assist with managing the company inventory for accuracy
• Ensure the timely close of the general ledger and the completion of all material balance sheet reconciliations.
• Issue accurate, reliable and timely financial statements.
• Calculate variances from budget and forecast and report variances with an explanation to management
• Maintain the company financial scorecard and update financial metrics
• Create a documented system of accounting procedures and policies.
• Assist with the continuing development of financial reports, dashboards, scorecards and other internal & external reports as needed.
Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Minimum of 5 years of experience
• Strong technology skills, including proficiency with MS Office applications (especially Excel).
• Attention to detail
• Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills in English language
• Possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and implement process improvements
• A-player and high-achiever
• Self-starter, self-motivated
