TypeScript AWS Backend Engineer

This position is a serverless backend developer role. It is a big plus if you a re also familiar with IaC infrastructure management. You will be working in a small, distributed team with colleagues located in the Philippines and Sweden.

We are looking for an engineer who knows the software engineering craft. Who can build API's and deliver services to production that works. Who knows how and why to write tests. Who knows how to extend a system already in production.

TECH
Typescript - All our code is in js/typescript
AWS - Lambda, DynamoDb (single table design), Cognito, S3, SNS, SES, Bedrock
Infrastructure - We manage the above AWS services using CDK, Cloud Development Kit.

The frontend is in React/Typescript, this is not your main responsibility, but any experience is good.

REQUIRED SKILLS
5+ years experience in backend development.
Previous experience from distributed environments like micro services or serverless.
Comfortable with TypeScript
Excellent communication skills
Team player

BONUS SKILLS:
DevSecOps experience
Experience in AWS DynamoDB/Lambda/S3/Cognito
Experience in AWS CDK (Cloud Development Kit) IaC
Experience with Websockets and real time applications
Experience in frontend development using React
Experience in AWS IaC technology on production workloads

RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive architecture and implementation for new features in the core backend services in our our SaaS platform.
Implement code focused on high availability and reliability. Managing serverless infrastructure as code.

We are now recruiting a senior backend engineer in the Philippines to join our small international engineering team.

ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will have significant AWS experience and used to working in small team with big responsibilities. A strong command of modern async software architecture, programming and experience working in Node.JS. You are highly motivated with an attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision. You are also used to working together with other developers in a virtual team setup. You love challenges and you are a fast learner. Excellent English and communication skills required.

You have a reliable Internet connection and source of power, a computer setup and most likely you have a dedicated workspace at home.
It is preferable if you live in the Philippines since that's where other members of the development team is located and it's easier to keep the team together in the same time zone, same culture and same holiday schedule.
