The Unreal Engine CGI Pipeline Technical Director will design and maintain the studio's top-of-the-line and cutting-edge CGI pipeline primarily built around Unreal Engine 5.1. The Pipeline Technical Director will work on tool building, pipeline and process architecture, documentation, and training. The pipeline will incorporate metahumans and other UE 5.1 tools, applicable artificial intelligence applications, markerless motion capture, Blender’s toolkit, and simulation tools such as Houdini and Marvelous Designer to produce high-quality, close-to-photoreal quality CGI to rival Finals level VFX. They will work closely with the studio's artists, supervisors, and IT department to ensure that the pipeline is optimized for the studio's specific needs and enables the efficient production of high-quality VFX work. The Pipeline Technical Director will stay current with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure the studio's pipeline remains current and competitive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design an end-to-end CGI pipeline built around Unreal Engine 5.1 configured for high-fidelity rendering able to rival traditional VFX and world-class animation studios.
- Develop tools and scripts to optimize the pipeline and the workflow of the artists.
- Define and maintain the pipeline and process architecture, documentation, and training.
- Incorporate metahumans and other UE 5.1 tools, markerless motion capture, Blender’s toolkit, and simulation tools such as Houdini and Marvelous Designer to produce high-quality, close-to-photoreal quality CGI to rival Finals level VFX.
- Collaborate with the studio's artists, supervisors, and IT department to identify and address technical issues and improve the efficiency of the pipeline.
- Manage and mentor a team of technical artists and developers responsible for developing and maintaining the pipeline.
- Participate in the development of new techniques and processes to enhance the studio's CGI pipeline.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies related to VFX and Unreal Engine.
- Ensure that the CGI pipeline is integrated and optimized with the overall production process.
- Oversee the implementation of high-quality tools and scripts to optimize the CGI pipeline.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or related field.
- Fluent in English
- 3+ years of experience as a Pipeline Technical Director in the VFX, game, or film industry.
- Expert knowledge of Unreal Engine and the latest tools available.
- Strong passion for building an international company to represent the Philippines on the international stage from a start-up phase.
- In-depth understanding of the VFX process and the ability to understand technical and creative briefs.
- Strong experience with building technical infrastructure, software tools, and workflows for CGI production.
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Passion for creating high-quality CGI content.
- Experience (or passionate for research and development) with metahumans, markerless motion capture technology, lighting and rendering technology, character animation tools, and simulation tools such as Houdini and Marvelous Designer is a plus.
- Experience with other software used in CGI production such as Maya, Nuke, or Houdini is a plus.
- Strong Python experience (at least 2 years)
- Strong Maya experience (especially experience with setting up deformers)
- Excited to work in fast-paced production environment
