JOB OVERVIEW

A chef or kitchen manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of a kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation. Their job duties may include:
Menu planning: The chef or kitchen manager is responsible for creating and updating the restaurant's menu. They may work with the restaurant owner or manager to determine the menu items that will be offered, and they may make adjustments based on customer feedback, availability of ingredients, and seasonality.
Food preparation: The chef or kitchen manager is responsible for supervising the preparation of food, ensuring that it is prepared according to recipes and standards of quality, taste, and presentation. They may also be responsible for preparing some of the dishes themselves.
Staff management: The chef or kitchen manager is responsible for hiring, training, and supervising kitchen staff, including line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers. They must ensure that the kitchen is properly staffed and that staff are trained to follow proper food safety and sanitation ---------- ventory management: The chef or kitchen manager must ensure that the kitchen has the necessary ingredients and supplies to prepare the menu items.
