JOB OVERVIEW

- 3 years experience in Linux Server Administration as application and database (Oracle) Server
- Able to manage Java based production environments on JBoss
- Knowledgeable in Linux OS and Oracle DB
- Familiar with Network Principles and Secure Server configurations
- Familiar with Virtualization (Experience in PAAS/IASS)
OPERATIONS:
- Performs daily monitoring of the Linux System / LAMP Platform
- Performs regular security monitoring to identify any possible vulnerability threats, inside or outside the system and organization
- Set-ups and maintains Linux user accounts.
- Repairs and recovers system failures of the Linux platform
INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE:
- Installs new/upgrade servers' Operating System, Apache and other application softwares.
- Installs and maintains security patches *Security patches are pieces of software designed to update a computer security program and/its supporting data, for repair or improvement purposes
- Performs performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required
- Upgrades administrative & monitoring tools and utilities
DOCUMENTATION:
- Develops and maintains installation and configuration procedures.
- Setupsand implements security policies/procedures for the use of computer system (For Linux, SELinux)
- Researches and recommends innovative and automated approaches for system administration tasks
COMPETENCIES:
- System administration experience in CentOS Linux environments and proficient in tasks such as shell scripting, creating cron jobs, analyzing log files, managing user accounts and groups, configuring iptables, setting up mail services, etc.
- Installation of LAMP, installation from source, OS/security/services patches, SSL certificate configuration (OpenSSL), proxy servers (mod_proxy, mod_proxy_fcgi)
- Apache + PHP-FPM tuning
