Web/Social Designer, Canva - Permanent Job Description

I'm a professional speaker, consultant and show host on disability inclusion and accessibility. I build custom strategies for organizations on how to make their organizations inclusive for persons with disabilities.

What’s accessibility? It’s making sure that products and services are usable by people of all abilities.

I’m looking for someone who can help bring my brand to the next level. Someone with a creative eye and a high level of detail. I want to bring someone to the team who can work on a cohesive brand strategy, marketing materials, social profiles and website so they will all look and feel the same. Right now we’re just using Canva templates for everything which just does not ---------- te, I’ve worked very closely with designers throughout my career and am looking for someone who is very detail oriented and takes pride in their work.

A successful candidate will…
-Know the basics of good accessible design principles ( ---------- )
-Want to “own” a brand look and feel (long-term strategy)
-Promptly reply to messages received on Whatsapp
-Create a cohesive strategy for design across multiple platforms (PowerPoint, Social profiles, marketing materials, etc)
-Approaches design both from a theoretical and practical perspective
-Willing to learn how to communicate in brand voice
-Desires long-term employment
-Be proactive at identifying potential problems
-Be a clear communicator with good spelling and grammar skills
-Have a winning attitude, ready to jump in to small other tasks
-Be flexible to work from 11a-1pm EST and willing to join a daily standup call
-Identify and work towards ways on being more efficient in their job
-Open to expanding to other social platforms over time (Tiktok, Facebook, Instagram, etc)
-Be open to creating social media posts

Some tasks that I’m looking to be worked on…
-Creating and updating a brand templates to be used across platforms
-Creating data visualizations
-Create social media posts
-Creating checklists and guides (marketing/presentation materials)
-Create brand swag graphics
-Enhance website design
-Design a book cover
-Create other marketing materials

Required Skills:
-Canva
-Word/Google Docs
-PowerPoint/Google Slides
-Bonus to have (not required):
-Social Media management (any platform)
-Video editing
-Copywriting experience
-Instructional design
-Webflow

Interview Process:
1. If you have the right experience we will conduct a 20 minute chat interview on WhatsApp
2. Skill test (project) to be completed within 48 hours (This project will be to take an existing design in Canva and improve on it)
3. 30 minute Video interview

Most importantly, the best candidate will have a can-do attitude, willingness to learn and desire to succeed.
