We are looking for an enthusiastic and savvy Content Editor to handle our content publishing requirements in a fast-paced work environment. We are looking for an individual with a high level of understanding of written and verbal English knowledge. The successful applicant will be the final editor of our written and verbal content prior to the posting of the content.
As a Content Editor, you will edit and proofread blog posts written by other content writers on the team.
To succeed in this role, you must have experience in developing and editing content and excellent communication and organizational skills. A bachelor's degree in journalism, English, or a related field is mandatory.
Skills and Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Content Editor, Web Editor, or similar role. A portfolio of published content is required.
- Ability to conduct research and verify the contents and their relevance to the subject.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills in English.
- Proficiency in grammar, writing style, and tools to improve the content further.
- Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress).
- Rephrasing written text to ensure document structure and content are consistent.
- Fact-check articles and ensure proper spelling, grammar, and syntax in outputs.
- Must be familiar with creating content optimized for SEO and conversions
- Understands search intent and how to select appropriate subheadings
- Good with tech and have experience using Surfer SEO, Ahrefs, Grammarly, etc.
- Knowledge of Topical Maps, organizing content in Pillars and Clusters.
- Content audits, updates, organizing, and optimizing posts.
- Photo editing software (Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/Canva)
Responsibilities:
- Editing articles for SEO optimization (Internal linking, Images, and Anchor Texts), including proofreading & fact-checking for errors and inconsistencies before publication.
- Ensuring content consistency, including formatting, fonts, images, and tone.
- Develop and manage content for blogs, social media, and websites.
- Find content gaps and opportunities to rank in featured SERP boxes.
- Come up with blog post titles & meta descriptions for SEO, and ensure content briefs are completed and formatted for our freelance writers.
- Editing long-form blog posts on our blog for SEO best practices and against client content briefs for style, tone, voice, etc.
- Conduct SERP research to create outlines for writers to work off of
- Staging blog posts on WordPress.
- Communicate with freelance writers on editing and submission deadlines with little to no oversight
- Lead editorial calendar creation/management — (e.g., once the topics are approved, slate everything in and double-check project timeline dates are correct).
